Joskin macerator oil motor seal

Hi I’m new to the farmings forum, I’ve a joskin tanker with a joskin trailing shoe on the back. The seals on the oil motor in the macerator keep going, so we eventually replaced the motor and they have gone again after a very short time. The hub and seal inside the macerator are good. Any ideas please. Thanks

It’s on a JD6155 with the oil flow on the spools only on no.3, if turned down any more the sequence valve won’t operate properly. Thanks

Where is the oil returned to? Back pressure murders hydraulic motor seals and hence the motors, so a low pressure return with big couplers is a must.

We’ve a large diameter oil pipe with 3/4” couplings straight into the tractor back end. It does go through the valve block/ sequence valve on the tanker first tho.The motor does also have a third pipe, as an oil drain of the bottom of it. Thanks

Have you checked the quick release couplings for damage or obstructions,is the third pipe under pressure when it’s running?

What sort of motor have you got fitted to the macerator (pictures will help identify it). Sounds like the drain line if fitted is seeing high back pressure and blowing the shaft seals out.

Sounds like yours has the auto reverse on it does it? Could be a problem with this valve maybe by pass it to try I run mine without and just switch direction every now and again to even put wear

All couplings are good,as I’ve come across that problem years ago, today I’ve tapped straight into the Re turn to the tractor for the third line so that it doesn’t go back though the valve block to reduce the back pressure as much as possible. Thanks

Yes it does have auto reverse, What a pig to set up ?. That does sound a very good option, so long as nothing gets suck in the pipe holes. Thanks

Yes it does have three lines, I’ve now put the drain pipe directly into the low pressure Re turn to the tractor today, so that it doesn’t go back though the valve block to try and help. I’ll take a picture of the pump tomorrow. Thanks

What engine rpm are you running it at just out of interest?

PTO speed for the vacuum pump on the tanker is on 280rpm. But the oil flow that works the macerator motor, which I’m having problems with is set at a flow of No3 on the spools on a JD6155. Thanks
Hopefully plumbing the free flow to the tractor will cure it and there is a restriction in the spool bank on tanker that’s blowing the seal.
I change the direction of the macerator manually every run of the field to help even wear.
Fingers crossed you sort it,I know how frustrating it is!

We have ran massarator for years and never had a problem with any at all, some run auto reverse and still no problem , has to be something wrong on your tractor to keep doing that all the time
