Aye-up,
I’ve not yet met anyone who isn’t bothered by the Ukraine situation and it seems to me that the overwhelming majority of folks want to help.
The constraints of time and money as we approach a busy spring might mean some, myself included, don’t feel they have much time to give and that pounds given may not get to where it needs to be.
But what I can do is give something that needs to be turned into cash……
I have a fertiliser spreader I never use. It needs a bit of fettling but I’m sure it could be some use to someone. That’s hardly the point though. It’s sat in my yard for nearly 10 years just doing nothing and it occurred to me that there could be thousands of such pieces of kit out there that could be sold at a collective sale. Even if these items only come to scrap value, that would be better than just sitting in a barn or a patch of nettles. The donators shift useless stuff that is of very little value or use to them, the auctioneer gives his time and the buyer makes the payment either as a further user or a scrap dealer.
So is there an auctioneer who would be willing to pull it together? It will need a reasonably central position to collect it all together and a date for the sale and that needs to get shifting soon as time is of the essence.
A big undertaking and maybe not a goer, but just a thought.
I had EMR Metals call me last week to see if I had any scrap so as time allows I’m going to load mine up and give the proceeds to a charity. We could all do something similar.
Cheers, Pete.
