There is an argument that it is not very fair that Landowners can sell a plot of building land for £100,000 just for a single but modest house, when thousands of young working folk haven't a hope of either owning one or renting one at an affordable price.

Just saying.
An industrialist said to me, “ it is not a fair world”,never has been never will be, so very true.
Even communist countries like Russia and China aren’t fair.

Housebuilders factor in a profit per house commensurate with plot value when they develop an estate. The landowner can only sell once, they can do the same every week.
Just wondering why pillory the landowner, everyone else down the line has a bloody good screw too, including the buyer as long as the whole ponzi scheme keeps going.
Count up the people who between them pocket far more than the man who has sold the land....

It means that some people who haven't done much with their lives would like a shot at pulling the strings. Kind of the opposite of a meritocracy, but not entirely dissimilar to North Korea, Zimbabwe, Venezuela or Stalinist era Russia.

It really doesn't - but don't let that stop you from posting that word jumble.

Sounds to me more like they are trying to follow in certain parts of the anarchist tradition (small voting collectives to decide consensus).

Not saying I nescessarily agree with it, but do try reading some political theory before you make political posts about political theory.

No direct skin in the game, but in booming east anglia you can divide your 100K by 5 to 10 to get a sensible figure based on reality.

HERE the tacking on of a big house to the side of a village is about completely done for.

I don't see an argument at all. Anybody can buy anything that can appreciate in value for whatever reason. Classic car, watch etc.

If somebody has bought some land and/or paid various taxes such as inheritance or capital gains etc and then they get to sell it for housing development then good for them but its go absolutely nothing to do with anybody else. Any moaners should be told to go and buy some land and get building on it.

that's nothing to do with land ownership that's to do with planning policy
do away with the need for planning permission and see what so called building land is worth
planning permission and planning policy are the biggest subsidy's out

Yes, used to have them for school dinners (y)

This 'Land Justice' crowd work on the assumption that inequality = injustice.

As a committed capitalist, descended from a line of industrialists, I don't subscribe to their assumption.

Correcting inequality inevitably means taking something from one set of people and redistributing it to a different set of people (land, money, education, healthcare, opportunity etc etc).

These woke, New Age Commies neglect to consider the fact that if you are British, with a job and a mortgage, you are probably in the top 5% of people by wealth on a global level.

For more of their waffle, look up Guy Shrubsole.
