Just puncture the boats

Lets have a look at British territories shall we? - parts of the carribean & Gibraltar could easily provide options for homes. Seeing that these parts of the world are living very nicely thank you about time we spread the love and they had their fair share. The issue isnt going to go away unless we send interpreters into the camps etc to inform them of the system. For all we know the criminals are feeding them false news that we welcome all with open arms. At the end of the day the Brits have done well interfering into other nations and the history is not great. More people are going to be moving especially with climate change/wars/famine. Best we start thinking of a solution pretty quick.

errrr ....... I'm sure not long ago there were complaints that farmers couldn't get enough immigrant labour to process pork / pick fruit and veg etc ?

Think we need to make our mind up just what we want or not in this country maybe ?

and from a compassionate point of view imagine just how desperate you have to be to put your family in one of those inflatables to cross the channel

It's you that's saying they cant! You must have a good reason for it. Or do you just not like brown people?

I'd say they should be able to choose. They may speak English, so a lot easier to find work, provide for their family and contribute to society from a standing start if they choose UK.

wish we could exchange some of our rubbish for 'brown' people who would be assets. I 'd be more concerned by an immigrant's culture or religion which poses threats to our way of life than skin colour.

Some of you could do with reading the following link. Also consider where the UK will be if France ends the Le Touquet agreement( 86 onwards)And here is some of what you've had from the EU...

AMIF

78.Both the British Red Cross and the Refugee Council were concerned about losing access to the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), which was established in April 2014 to cover the period 2014–20. They noted that the UK had been the largest recipient of AMIF funding, and was allocated €370 million to spend on national priorities such as improving Home Office processes and the returns programme, and in support of refugee resettlement programmes and integration measures

They obviously think the UK is a land of milk & honey. We just need use social media to circulate videos & photos of Hull.

France needs to accept blame for each and every migrant who perishes, as they obviously turn a blind eye (at best) or actively help (at worst) to get these vulnerable people to Calais.

I accept it is not necessarily a popular view, but IMHO genuine refugees should seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in.

Alternatively, we could provide a safe means of reaching the UK to apply for asylum.

Remember, it's not illegal to claim asylum.
So if there is a safe route you don't think there would be an endless queue of migrants stretching all across the EU wanting to get to the UK, most migrants only speak English as their second language so the UK will always be a preferred destination.
People are totally naive in believing an open ended policy of migrants coming here wouldn't make the situation far far worse.
