Give the man a break I say. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Thank you, that's exactly what I've been thinking about this situation, far worse has been done in & by the HOC and the MPs stay .
I feel for his wife & family for the embarrassment he has caused but as a MP I feel lots have done alot worse and got away with it.

If porn is so degrading to women, then maybe women generally should ask themselves why some of their number consider it quite acceptable to make a very profitable career choice out of everything from “fashion shoots” to hard porn. Many women have a choice in this matter. Those are the ones I’m referring to.

Women forced to do pornography work is quite a different matter. They are truly victims who deserve all the support and help they can get.

For the record I’ll make it clear that I don’t agree with pornography at all, but I find it disingenuous for some women to condemn it as a male problem when it’s women who build careers upon it and profit from its production in all of its various shades.
It’s a two sided thing in my view and neither side can claim the moral high ground.

This is what happens when you group people according to immutable characteristics.

Its not something "all men" watch, its not something "all women" get offended about. There are a whole range of views. I do know that its not illegal though so in some way we all know society does "condone" it.

By and large though its a grim trade with very very few people making any money out of it I'd imagine, but then again its one of the biggest things traded on the internet too...

I can't say I disagree or agree with pornography. Its a bit like prostitution - its not for me, but you can never stop it. And fairly big generalisation but men tend to very visual whereas women can tend to be more emotional.

It is entirely inappropriate watching such material where it can offend, but I cannot help but wonder if he was picked up since he is one of those "awkward squad" in Major's words.
An Anti Brexit, pro European MP, who was renowned for being very good at his job and popular in his very safe constituency. A total thorn in the side, of those who are keen on globalisation of the UK food chain in return for liberalisation of trading links to US, Canada etc.

A friend who is a partner in a large accountant practice told me that after having an IT person in to check computer systems in their offices it was reported by IT man that over 90% of the computers in the firm had evidence of Porn on them. A memo was sent around pretty quickly.

Our IT man at work, a South African, viewed more porn than all the House of Commons put together. He was in the habit of flashing nude ladies up onto people's screens when they were least expecting it. His downfall came when he did this to a colleague, who welcoming a new customer, turned his screen round to face the man with the words" let me show you what we can do for you, here" . :banghead:

while l agree its not acceptable, we don't know what 'level' of porn he watched, there is everything from 'soft' to hard, and repulsive, and outright disgusting. And sex scandal's are not unknown in the HOP, not condoning it, and he has resigned, but smells a bit dodgy, as if somebody was setting him up. Mobiles have a very small screen, so whoever reported him, had to be very close, to see. Of course he might have been an addict of it, then definitely he should go, or into the disgusting stuff.
And farming has lost a supportive MP of farming, we haven't got many of them, its not a very good thing for us.

Well your world is very different to mine.
i feel sorry that someone who has worked very hard for Agriculture feels the need to watch this sort of trash.
then perhaps I am just old fashioned and expect our MPs to be better than this.
No you are spot on…..and he didn’t resign straight away only when he had no option. What is wrong with these people.

It’s not what he watched but where he watched it that is the issue.

One of the really few good MPs has lost his job looking at something in a break in proceedings which MPs of all parties believe it's ok for our young kids to be able to watch, what fecking hypocrites we all are!

There's justification for personal phones being off, or handed in to security in Parliament. I'm not allowed my phone when on some premises I work in. There are works phones available for those who need a phone on the day.

Are computers in Parliamentary offices private, or are they in effect works equipment? Woe betide any Civil Servant whose computer is tainted by porn sites,
