Keeping an Eye / Keeping up with the Neighbours

Pointed bit of fun for discussion today. Don't want to delve too deep into 'don't worry about what anyone else is it' Etc. Etc. But;

Who else watches what the neighbours be at and evaluates themselves against them accordingly?

For example, there are various bits of ground that have the potential to be sold or leased in the coming years and I have a shortlist in my head who all would be in for them / able to compete with me / put me out of them, or,

I reckon my cattle are the best on the road, constantly keeping an eye on the standard of stock in the neighbours field, or,

There is sheep wiring done very badly, or why is he sowing fertiliser sure there is no growth, or jeez they hardly let cattle out that day.

I think its only natural to pitt yourself against others & not necessarily a bad thing either.
