Big cross ewes here take the pee in the pens here if you've nae dug , selection of collies ( couple big n strong ) but still to soft for the race - domain of the terrier if you can put up with the noise

I bought my kelpie as fully trained… Welsh pr*ck kept making excuses which meant I couldn’t go see him work her… so instead I had her as a trial and he would have her back if I couldn’t get on with her after 3 months… paid him £750 deposit… soon as I realised she barely knew the lay down command I phoned him and he’d blocked me 🤦‍♂️ With the help of BATWK somebody part trained her for me and I’m still training her now but I can do most things with her. It’s quite satisfying tbh I’d Definitely train another dog

Cracks me up when you comment on his Facebook posts.

Have you got terriers working the race then?

Do you guys go for puppies and train them up or buy trained dogs from sales? I’ve mostly had puppies and sent them away for training. But I have had two trained dogs before. One was okay one was complete rubbish. Wouldn’t do a thing for me.
My first dog was ‘started’ by a really good local shepherd and is a cracking dog and being local in the beginning I went back for lessons to help me along which was really helpful. I’ve just bought a pup and she’s bean easy to train to a good farm level.

we have a German Shepard that pushes all the cows for milking, Raises them all from the cubicles and drives to the collecting yard without an order,
She picked it up herself from just watching the milkers doing it.
I’d love a dog like that, our collie is getting too old for the job now but I can’t find a decent pup without spending a fortune.

My uncle said milking cows was the easiest way to train a puppy because they know where there going and you just train the dog round them and you do it twice a day for 10 minutes or so which is short and sweet which the trainers recommend
Ive a patterdale that thinks its a collie , has brief moments of been quite good, just dosemt like listening but thats patterdales for you 😂
A lot of terriers in the highlands and Ireland were originally daul purpose ie vermin and stock dogs. And you got the original heelers like corgis.

Uncle was big into his black dogs. Good mates with Brian Nutall and sold them all over the country. Had family lines going back right to the start. Serious dogs that would work anything but not the brain dead type that ended up with no chins left! I had one off him best dog I've ever seen...although I did dig some big holes in awkward places on occasional evenings when I was supposed to be going out and he'd gone to ground!
He sold one bitch pup to a hunting chap up beyond lake Vyrnwy. Tiny little thing like a kitten. She never grew much bigger than a cat but she was evil. He was walking through the cows with her and the bull came at him and this little bitch grabbed the bull by the nose and hung on until it lay down 😂

we had a collie x beardie although i suspect there was a bit of terrier in him. great yard dog but no use gathering.
his predecessor was a great gatherer/flanker. he was so keen he heard a neighbour penning sheep and went 3/4 of a mile to help. neighbour was mightily impressed and offered to buy him.

I love that dog above to bits, she saved my life. She will move anything anywhere and will gather and pen a big mob of cattle like they were sheep. But by Christ is she a c*nt if something stands to her, gives her some stick or even just breaks off from the flock / herd.

Who trained her? I've a young dog here I'd like to send away.
