KFC crisis!

Hmm, nearest KFC is about an hours drive, so say 2 1/4 hours to bring home a take away. I could catch, kill, dress a broiler, chop its legs off and dunk them in batter with a few herbs, fry until brown and call it PFC (Paddingtons Fried Chicken) in less time. :)
Back in young farmers days......30 years ago, the one in Shrewsbury was open until 2.30am and there was always a line of their cars outside after a do at weekends. Don't think it's still there anymore though, I seem to remember seeing it nearer the Welsh bridge now.

KFC are disgusting and dirty imo, so made me laugh to be honest.
In my relatively limited experience KFC are relatively clean and tidy like all other large fast food chains. Not sure that they could claim to be selling the most healthy/nutritious food, again like all fast food chains but, again like all fast food chains, the people are more than happy to eat there.

Interesting listening to KFC customers being interviewed on the wireless this morning about their beloved KFC running out of chooks. I'm worried that some would rather end it all than face another day without the only food they know and are not allergic to. If this crisis carries on much longer, I'm afraid there will be rioting on the streets and a general state of anarchy will hit the UK's inner city areas. :woot:

How much of KFC chicken is from the uk.

From their website....

How much of your chicken is British?
All of our Original Recipe chicken on the bone is from farms in the UK and Ireland.

Because demand often outstrips British poultry supply, other menu items may include chicken from trusted and established overseas suppliers.

Nothing wrong with a nice maccy D from time to time. They support UK ag alot. The least you can do is eat one or two occasionally.:)

I agree nothing wrong with the odd maccas, just don't eat it all the time. Its about the only fast food place we go to other than the odd fish n chips.
I think they make more effort than the rest to source things from local farmers and their standards are certainly higher than many places. A very well run business in my opinion.

The KFC story made the news here last night, must be serious:D

Do you have a five star hygiene rating.
And more importantly, do you do home deliveries?

PS What happens if you don’t manage to catch the broiler; do we then have to pick out the lead shot from our Paddingtons Fried Wings?

Maybe it’s just food products DHL struggle with.

The Grand Tour sets/vehicles were moved (and sponsored) by DHL were they not. Never heard of a car that went missing. Doubt Clarkson etc. would have publicly let them get off lightly if they tripped up.

According to the Times this morning the distribution depot in Rugby has piles of "wasted" chicken and people have been sent there to sort it out.
I would guess that the whole stock and ordering system has gone haywire as well as the distribution and so they have loads of out of date product just rotting away and as it is probably all computer controlled, it is just saying "NO"!!

The boss of DHL is saying that they are not solely responsible.

Yes, once the dog is out of the kitchen.
Only one home delivery at present - ours - we may expand.
Marmalade sandwiches as a reserve.

fresh food delivery has to be virtually jit

Yep but the DHL JIT model is that the new stock arrives just as the last bit leaves the retail point/factory goods out.
Great if you are making 2,000 cars a day....less good when the demand is unpredictable.
When they turned on their new software for our NHS trust they said "just get an extra 4 days stock in to cover any issues"..... we spend roughly £2.3 million a week across 3 sites.....thats a lot of cupboard space!!
After 2 weeks of chaos that makes KFC look like a minor inconvenience they settled our complaint pre-legal.... cost them just under £5 million.

There’s more to it than that from what I’ve been told. Scapegoat and all that.
