KFC crisis!

Yep but the DHL JIT model is that the new stock arrives just as the last bit leaves the retail point/factory goods out.
Great if you are making 2,000 cars a day....less good when the demand is unpredictable.
When they turned on their new software for our NHS trust they said "just get an extra 4 days stock in to cover any issues"..... we spend roughly £2.3 million a week across 3 sites.....thats a lot of cupboard space!!
After 2 weeks of chaos that makes KFC look like a minor inconvenience they settled our complaint pre-legal.... cost them just under £5 million.

Scary stuff!

They must be making some money somewhere to be able to pay the fines for the cockups else with a record that’s suggested if it happened with every customer they’d soon be out of business.

Hmm, nearest KFC is about an hours drive, so say 2 1/4 hours to bring home a take away. I could catch, kill, dress a broiler, chop its legs off and dunk them in batter with a few herbs, fry until brown and call it PFC (Paddingtons Fried Chicken) in less time. :)

Would’ve easier to open a loaf and take the top off a marmalade jar [emoji13]

All this will be dealt with by insurance, these sort of deals are always backed up with insurance to ensure the correct result.
The result is there overall cost structure will rise as premiums do.

I think DHL can bear the hits..... 220 countries & around 350,000 staff .... operating profit of around 3.5 billion euros..... as above it`ll be a far distant financial institution that will spread the cost back to the population.

People ringing the Police should be shot.

Which in turn surely will make them less competitive at winning the deal next time around, and less trusted by future suppliers/customers.

Which is I guess still my point....if you keep cocking up (insured or not) there's only so long you can keep going before it all catches up with you one way or another and your competitors gain advantage.

Goes back to the pay peanuts, get monkeys saying I guess. Surely if they really are as rotten as these headline stories suggest, the insurance premiums would be astronomical due to the risk ratio, and businesses would chose a more reliable supplier. Professionals are cheaper than amateurs and all that....

(Cue @JCMaloney advising that the NHS like all government departments only look for short term gains, and let others pick up the pieces of their short term "savings")

There you go.....they must be doing something right to be making that size operating profit, despite such headline crises. DHL couldn't make Openfield's logistics work properly, nor KFC it seems, but are these just the 0.1% of their job they don't get right?

Have you not heard of "Hermes" ?
“Hermes was one of the 12 Olympian Gods and was god of trade, thieves, travelers, sports, athletes, and border crossings, guide to the Underworld”

“In some myths Hermes is also depicted as a trickster where he would outwit the gods either for the good of humankind or for his own personal amusement and satisfaction.”

Yeah. Well done marketing team! Spot on I’d say :p

Absolutely ....

Car manufacturing is much more predictable than pandering to Retail Fads.

It only takes an advert on telly to hit home with the general public and demand can double or even treble in a matter of hours.......

Do you have a five star hygiene rating.
And more importantly, do you do home deliveries?

PS What happens if you don’t manage to catch the broiler; do we then have to pick out the lead shot from our Paddingtons Fried Wings?
Last time i looked, the KFC at Clifton Moor retail park York, only had a 4 star food rating. Needless to say i never went inside.
