Kids 12v ride on toys.

I know this is a difficult question due to individuality etc; but which is a better toy? Ie the tractor or gator?
Of course both but I can see the tractor has more options; then that’s also more attachments, but that’s a good thing.
Then the gator is handy as it can transport stuff as it is??
Just interested in how others got on.

My kids have had both and as you say they are both different.

If they are playing together then they like the tractors as they are slightly faster, basically just racing around.

If they are doing their own thing, or helping with jobs, then the gators are far more practical

Bought my lad a John deere gator....he loves it. Fixed a hitch on it and bought a trailer that you pull along on the garden.....changed the handle to a drawbar....cheap trailer....4 wheels and it tips up too. Biggest let down is the plastic wheels...useless really.... Need to fix some rubber on them

I bought a 12V Land Rover Ride-On of Best Choice for my daughter for her birthday and it's been over 1 year, she loves it. We started my daughter driving at low speed until she drove comfortably on her own. Love that it has two seats and seat belts! Super nice quality! My favorite part is that it has the remote - so I can drive it or she can. after a full charge, it can be used from 1 to 2 hours.

Our JD is about 3.5 year old and covered I’m guessing thousands of miles. A battery charge can just about make the 3 mile round trip to the petrol station for sweets and he used to take the bins up the half mile long lane every week. Wheels have almost worn through, we do look at changing so that it would be quieter as well but he’s now upgraded to a petrol

How long do the plastic tyres last on these I have seen that you can buy a set of rubber ones for the Pedal versions I am guessing they would fit on the battery one as well.

Just wondered if it is worth making the swap.
Some would say you need the plastic ones on to slip a bit when starting up as rubber ones would bite and potentially destroy the cogs in the transmission as there’s no soft start. My boy has a 12v gator on plastic and still fine after 1 year or more but if on concrete hills it tends to just spin. A good option I’ve seen is to screw the tread from a mountain bike tyre to the plastic wheel. Though it’s the same issue as the first part of my msg. I think you can get rubber band type things to go over the plastic wheels called power bands I think. I made some out of an innertube but didn’t stay on for long

I wouldn't put rubber tyres on it as there is no proportional control on the throttle so its all or nothing.

My boys love skidding the tractors around and still go back to them rather than other ride on toys for that reason.

Depending on usage tyres and batteries can be an annual thing but they aren't expensive, especially if you time it with other purchases

I screwed the rubber belt out of a wheel barrow tyre onto our boys gator. Two years of abuse and the transmission is about buggered. In hindsight I should have left them as plastic but he was forever getting stuck with it.

He does drive it like a dairy farmer on a scrapper tractor though😂

I put mountain bike tyre round ours we were going through rear tyres in 6 weeks!! (mainly on tarmac) last for years now, if motors/ gear box break they can be replaced cheaper than set of tyres at around £85 a set.

Have a 2 speed Pegarao John Deere loader tractor plus 4 wheel trailer for sale. Very little use.
although I think 5 years old
suit 4-8 year old
the trailer can hitch to the tractor or be towed by hand with included handle
the battery still appears good and comes with charger
The only thing wrong is the radio which never worked properly from new
any offers?
