Bomford flail are about at the point where I cant sharpen any more to get a flat base.
How far do people run them down.

Them worn ahh!!!! come on will ya ..............there is at least another season in them flails.......there is that mush money out of hedge hacking to be wasting it on new flails with t'others just broke in...................they're worn when the edge is as thick as your finger......................

I am unclear as to why you are grinding the bottom? I grind the angle - regular sharpening means it only takes a few strokes to keep them really sharp with touching the underside
I'm not grinding the base. I grind the cutting edge but to get to the point of having a flat base there wouldn't be much flail left.
