Bomford flail are about at the point where I cant sharpen any more to get a flat base.
How far do people run them down.

Do people sharpen them? I never have and thats half worn BTW
I do, keep a square edge on them, I find they cut better.
Many don't though, they end up looking like rotaspreader hammers!!
That almost reads as though you are contemplating spending money!Bomford flail are about at the point where I cant sharpen any more to get a flat base.

As you know I already have a new set in stock. That almost reads as though you are contemplating spending money!
Is it that Mickey Mouse grinder you've got that's not up to the job?
I'm not grinding the base. I grind the cutting edge but to get to the point of having a flat base there wouldn't be much flail left.I am unclear as to why you are grinding the bottom? I grind the angle - regular sharpening means it only takes a few strokes to keep them really sharp with touching the underside
Do you want to bring them round and I'll build the tips up with weld?I'm not grinding the base. I grind the cutting edge but to get to the point of having a flat base there wouldn't be much flail left.
After they fly off, I spend 10 minutes looking for the flail - no more no less - if I can't find it, I will replace with a new one.
I have never found a flail
