Kramer 412E

My neighbour has an old kramer 412 that will only go in reverse ,whether the lever is in forward ,neutral or in reverse position, anyone have any mechanical experience with them.
I have been trying to find a workshop manual for one online but with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA.

kramer transmissisions are very simple.check the forward reverse valve is connected to the f/r lever.
The lever is connected.
I was thinking there might be a problem with the control valve, but i haven't had a chance to look at with him yet.
I have no experience of them,it seems to be a hydrostatic setup,i could be wrong.
Im not one for fiddling about trying to fix things that i don't know about, but as you say ,they are simple.
Not many over this side of the water have any experience with them as they are not that popular over here.

I'd have a wee look at the filter first, then check the pressures (point 23 in @Nearly 's first picture), just to get a feel for things before you start into the clutches.

The clutch packs are either end of a big lump that comes out when you split the cover. The allen headset screws that hold it altogether are lock tightted in and need heating right up to break the locktite or you will shear them off. Older Kramer is excellent gear easily repaired using standard sizes . Kevin Walker is the guy for spares and info/help. search Kramerallrad.co.uk

Just a bit of an update on this,I striped the front off the gearbox today, the reverse pack is in trouble, half the studs that hold the end plate on have broken,I would say the discs are in bits,I haven't got the hub out yet to see the full extent of the damage.

I am looking to buy a 312 but it has no reverse any idea on what it would be maybe where I could get parts in the USA ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

The forward reverse lever operates a control valve underneath the floor on the left hand side, something could be sticking inside that.
The shaft that the packs are on have a few big o rings where the oil is fed in for forward and reverse, they could be split .
