I know several mounted krone mowers who broke their frames in their first season .
Another informative, insightful, helpful and completely non inflammatory comment backed up by ratify able evidence of your claims there Jimmy 👍

We're all so fortunate to learn from your superior knowledge thank you🤮

(That's called sarcasm Mr G, it's what can happen when people get completely fed with your pointless unverifiable derogatory pish)

There's obviously no need to put any pictures up like the one below. It's showing repairs to the only crack on a mounted Krone 320cv. The owner had cut over a thousand acres with missing conditioner tines, and the imbalance caused the tin sheet hood to crack. A lick of paint, some tines, new blades, and it is as good as new.

My apologies that the very robust frame and bed were completely undamaged

Now Mr Dunc , there you go again talking rubbish running my comment down , a neighbouring contractor who I help out on long draws and he helps us out likewise went in 2018 and bought a new krone 9 ft mounted more conditioner , at the end of the first season the headstock cracked due to a poor design , krone brought away the more and welded it for him . He would not accept the job that was done and for a small amount of money they gave him a new mower , he broke as well so now he has a Kuhn , he said the steel and welding were rubbish in the krone , he will never buy a krone again, that’s real facts for you mr dunc . Another farmer who I cut silage for has front and back non conditioner krone mowers , the gearbox on the front mower has gone twice at 500 acre intervals costing €1200 to replace ,when you see how weak the gearbox cogs are it’s easy to see why it goes, another man who will not buy another krone, the Big m mowers are great machines , I recommend the Big m mowers if you have a lot to do.

Yes, I'm once again questioning the validity of another of your derogatory posts. You never, ever provide anything to corroborate what can only be described as your opinionated "stories".

My apologies for posting this, what should be unnecessary, off thread topic post. If anyone is unaware of James DS's (agriknives) historical penchant for posting uncorroborated stories, please just search any farming forum.

If you're breaking a Krone headstock, it must be getting seriously abused at speed across ploughed fields with it waving in the air. Usually the tractor will break first!

Edit

It's a simple solution @agri knives ....

If you don't like me and others questioning your posts, put up some evidence that your stories are true, and we won't question you 🙄

Providing evidence of the strength of Krone headstocks.......

Here's what happened to my cousin's mounted Krone 320cv that was being driven far too fast on very rough headland turns....

He broke off the cat 2 end of the mounting shaft (it's missing off the right hand side in the picture)

20210222_115952.jpg

Simple fix was to turn the shafts around and hoist it on the cat 3 ends, where it should've arguably been in the first place

The top link mount bent when he broke the mounting shaft, but nothing on the headstock cracked, broke, or failed. As anyone can also see from the pictures, there aren't any repair welds on the frame anywhere.

Yes, you need to be sensible turning on rough headlands if you don't want to damage your tractor, but provided that you do, then a 100hp tractor will cope with a 280cv without problem. I know that mine did for years!

Our krones will have done a good few 1000 acres now, we did a bearing in the front mower gearbox last season, was cutting again the same day. Know of another few sets with big acres done and no issues.

I can't blame Krone for poor headstocks. Way weaker designs (like old red Elho's) last for thousands of acres. That said, we've broken two Elho headstocks at ~4000 acres (both had done 4000). The left side (which holds most of the weight while mowing) would just collapse. But when you keep in mind they were the cheapest moco made in western Europe, that isn't that bad of a problem (2,4m moco cost us 10000€ and 2,8m 12000€, we ran 4 or 5 of them from new to melting plant).

My neighbour have a 280cv on a 5711M and he bought it used and now have it for 3y. And it had works fine for him and no problem, and here in Sweden the field are a long way from a golfgreen. It a lot of stone and many field are very bumby, but his Krone are not worst then other brand. I belive 100% the most equipment this day are good and the most problem is who drive it and not the name on the decal.

Dr Dunc I suppose these are all having bad dreams as well.
Yet again Jimmy, you're getting the opportunity to supply some evidence to back up your claims (it's what others do, read the thread to learn how), and afterwards we'll maybe believe your stories👍

Until then, your multitude of facile posts will remain the same as they've always been since you started getting banned from forums........

As believable as a politicians promise 🤣

The only one telling lies and talking complete rubbish here is you . I’ve no bother backing up every thing I post here because it’s always 100% true .

When we bought our 3m pottinger (talking probably 8yrs ago now) the headstock cracked 2nd time it was used, was welded up (by ourselves) and has been faultless since. Pottinger rep actually came out and looked at the repair and the extra brace we welded in.

Was most likely an internal defect in the metal, but does happen!

Both of our Krone mowers had to be welded as per photos of the two separate mowers. The Dealers two mechanic came to the yard one day to say they had to do a modification to both of our mowers and as we were busy we taught nothing of it and told them they were in the top shed work work away and we went off spreading slurry, as we presumed it was just something simple. When we cam back and seen what they had done, to say we were angry would be an understatement. They had welded dirty plates on the mowers frame at the point the attached to the bed, we hadn’t asked for this to be done as they hadn’t gave any trouble and weren’t cracked. The 2 lads told us that they had 32 mowers to do on there list as it was a fault in them that they were breaking. If I had Known what they were going to do I wouldn’t have let them near the mowers, as one was only a year old and the other 2 years old. Obviously I contacted the dealer and complained but got very little hop, he said they had to do them. I looked for the arms to be replaced on them but also got no hop.....Both mowers were traded in the following year. Will never have a Krone again.
