Krone rotavator gear box oil level

Just bought an old krone rotavator. I’m just wonder if anyone knows how to check the gear box oil level.
The Allen key bolt on top is to change between the 2 speeds in the box and the plate beside is just on top of the casing.

The dipstick is (or should be) on the breather.
And the Allen bolt should have a lever on it to select the speeds.
Great thanks. Yes we knew there should be a leaver on the speed setting.
Is the speed setting the equivalent off running it in 540 or 1000 but all done on 540 at the tractor?

I just run mine on 540 and haven't used the speed lever. It turns fast as it is.The decals are worn off/painted over! The chaincase on the side gets a tube of grease now and then as oil runs straight past the bottom seal.

Yes we topped up the chain case on this one with oil and then realised there is a small hole or 2 in the casing at the bottom and the oil was running out again. Do you put some type of liquid grease in it?

It would be better but I just use a standard grease cartridge over the fill hole and push the cartridge piston in with a bit of stick or screwdriver. Not ideal as the grease sets around the gears and chain after sitting for a while but a tiny amount of oil threw in with it must loosen it up again as it keeps on working.

I have the same rotavator but have cracked the case on the gearbox. Can it be welded or where might I get a replacement box

I wouldn’t really know to be honest but I would imagine the box would be cast so wouldn’t be just a standard weld. Plenty on here would know a lot more about this type of thing than me.
How did you manage to crack it?

Thanks.
poor maintenance, it seems like most of the mounting bolts had rattled out and left too much pressure on the last one in the case and cracked it.

Recently picked up one of these Krones- I have a question about the speed shift lever- mine is the same as the photo above, but the adjuster pin is frozen up, and the top part of it is broken off. Removed the lever and am working on freeing up the pin- my question is, is it a spring loaded mechanism that you pull up on to move the lever? Or does it turn on threads? The broken part looks like it's threaded, but I can't tell for sure. Oh and which setting is 540 and which is 1000? Thanks a lot!

Did you ever figure out which way was which with the speed shift lever? We have never touched ours since we bought it
