Hello again
Just looking to service teh Kubota RTV again.
Kubota unsurprisingly specify their own oil. The same stuff goes in the engine, hydraulics and the transmission.
Has anybody reviewed teh technical specs to establish whether Universal Tractor oil can be used?
Ive put UTTO in the engine as thats pretty basic. Just looking to see if I can use UTTO in the hydraulics and transmission

thank you

STOP. Its not the same oil.

Kubota branded transmission/hydraulic oil (Kubota Super UDT) should not go in the engine. What you want is an API grade CD, CE or CF grade 10W-40 weight oil in there.

Extract from WSM for an RTV900...

Just checked.
engine oil, then everywhere else (hydraulics, transmission, diffs etc) has the same stuff.
If you’ve other engines about, I’ve found it’s a lot easier to have a “common denominator” engine oil for use across the fleet. I’ve found that Fuchs Titan Cargo Max @ 10W-40 will safely go into most stuff including Tier 4 tractors and all the way down to the Kubotas. Yes it’s a bit more expensive than lower grade oils but it’s much more convenient to have one oil that does everything.

I don’t find it too onerous to keep a couple of 5L cans of UDT around for the Kubota mowers. I’d prefer there’s no question of using the wrong spec of oil in there as hydros are expensive to rebuild.

As you say Kubota generally spec UDT for the transmission / hydraulics (a combined unit on most of their UTV/commercial and garden machines) and axles/diff and final drives.

10w30 UTTO is the first choice recommendation for the transmission but SUTO can be used as well. The same 10w30 SUTO is the recommended choice for the engine.(but definitely not the UTTO)

Look after a couple of RTV900 and a RTV900x, i always used 15/40 E7 in the engines and genune kubota super UDT everywhere else as thats what the customer wants BUT recently had issues with squeaky front brakes on the 900x so pulled one front hub apart and rebuilt it but IMO there was nothing wrong with it! refilled front hubs with JCB HP Plus axle oil and no more squeaky brakes :ROFLMAO:

Are they hydro boxes?

this literally has a spool for the deck lift, smells like someone has put hydraulic oil in it… I’ve got some Jcb oil but thought it would be better with suto

what’s Utd is it a 15 40 blend?

They are hydro transmissions yes, the tipping deck oil is a totally separate thing although kubota say to use the super UDT just to keep it all simple.
