Yes there is, I removed the roll of net and found a small hole above the gearbox, but there is very little room. Will have a proper look tomorrow.

Have had a better look this morning, I’m thinking that the net box needs to be removed to gain access. Only four bolts holding it in place plus the bottom fixing for the lid gas ram to remove. Good job it’s a 2 year oil service. Can’t see any dampness around gearbox so will leave it for now.

The level plug is at approx. 9 o clock on the left hand side of the gearbox and the filler is on the top above the input shaft.

A year later and the gearbox needs clean oil.
As suspected, with the net box removed, good access to the gearbox was achieved.
I removed the level plug first and was greeted by a good dose of oil, slightly over filled, but at least it hadn’t leaked out unknown.
Book says 2.3l capacity so was surprised to only get 1l in before it came out of the level hole. The gearbox is fitted at an angle meaning the drain hole can’t drain the box completely so am I correct in thinking the 2.3l capacity is dry capacity? Just to check, I measured the old oil I drained out and it measured just over 1l so I can’t be far out.

Could you use something with the same principal as one of these...but cheaper.

Didn’t think about that device, question is can you get the pipe past the gears and into the bottom of the box. Well worth investigating as a complete oil change has to be better for longevity.

Just a word of warning, I have a John Deere 575, if you drop the gearbox oil and refill to the level plug it doesnt take the correct amount unless you have the gearbox LEVEL. To achieve this you need to lift the drawbar to about 6ft as the gearbox lies on an angle, or simply put a measured amount of oil in. I know of at least one baler that had to get a new gearbox as the oil was simply filled to the level plug while the baler was hooked on to a tractor.
