Has the wee bungy cord come off the knife reset?

Happened on the demo I had of their belt machine. Thankfully the Kuhn man (Tom) was here with the baler, and the dealer learned of the cords importance!

On the fixed chamber it's directly in front of you when you climb the steps to the netwrap platform (took delivery of a 3165 last night but haven't been out to the shed to drool yet this morning).

The cord holds a latch in place that's something to do with resetting the net knife. When it became detached on the demonstrator, the net wasn't cut. Fingers crossed it's this simple to fix!

thats why its differnet ours is a belt baler
Aye, but it still has the wee bungy cord on the knife reset bracket. Cord is shorter on the 60, and there's more metal in the way making it harder to see, but still in the same basic position, and it stops the knife cutting the net properly if it pops off.....

I asked my dealer whether I should carry a spare, and was told they'd never needed to supply one...... "Aye, because if it breaks I just fit an elastic band?" Was near enough my response 😝

That must be a 3135 then? Looking at one myself.
Aye it's a 3135. If you can live without auto grease, bale shape indicators, in cab independent knife and drop floor control, hydraulic feed rotor disengage, and a big control box screen for poor eyesight, then the 3130 is cheaper, but makes the same bale (according to my dealer)

Unless your tractor is isobus ready, you'll need a massive great cable, adaptor box and socket to plug the 3135 into

Why did you swap from Krone?

Aye, me too 🤣

Why did you swap from Krone?
Operator comfort, and better crop intake when working with long damp grass. My Krone was the basic, get off the seat, then turn a knob or pull a big lever to alter anything, or clear big blockages.

Krone comprima makes really good solid bales in any type of crop. In straw and hay, I haven't driven anything that would swallow crop as quickly, and still make a solid bale (250kg of bone dry straw in 1.3m bales, 7 bale to the acre, 16mph down the swath)

New intake design on the Kuhn is a game changer though. Having the side augurs on the same shaft as the feed rotor means it swallows lumps of wet grass at speeds utterly impossible to achieve with the Krone, or indeed any other baler for that matter.

Fingers crossed the new one will be as trouble free, and cost as little to own, because it has big Krone shaped boots to fill!
