Kuhn axis 30.2 Q

Hi
I have a new 30.2 Q spreader. When I set the application rate to exactly what I want, it is constantly over dosing. If I cut the rate on the box by 10 kg/ha it works out about right. I have calibrated the flow factor for each type of fertiliser used. I have spread around 1000 acres with it now & have had to type in a lower rate for it all. Has anyone else come across this ? Is it a problem with my spreader or do I just accept this is how I need to set it up ?
Many thanks.

The dealer seemed to think it was to do with what I was spreading, which is not the case as it’s doing it with all the different types of stuff I have spread. Plus each kind of fertiliser was run through the machine, weighed & a flow factor calculated. I will push the dealer to contact Kuhn. I just wanted to see if any of you guys had come across this issue before.

How are you putting forward speed in to quantron box. You could slow the forward speed pulses which would mean the shutters would'nt open as much. That way you could type the correct figure in.

Thanks for your reply. It’s plugged into the little iso plug in the tractor. I measured 100m & the box counted the pulses while I was driving. The speed shown on the box matches the speed on the tractor display so I presume this is correct. Would you reduce the pulses on the box or increase them to slow the forward speed?

Also wheelslip can make a difference. Can't remember which way to go but i think down makes forward speed slower. My kuhn box reads about 0.5 km less than the tractor and spreads spot on.

Have you checked too see what acreage the spreading is making the fields as if it is more than the field size it will put on more. I have a 30.1 and I always have too have my flow rate 0.2 more than the figure Kuhn give for other wise it's flowing out too fast

Thanks for your help gpcwm. As chae1 said I should probably get Kuhn involved through the dealer, as it is a new machine.

Thanks Rs chunk. The acerage on the box is right, but obviously the kg spread is wrong as I’m setting it 10kg/ha less than it is actually spreading. Do you add on 0.2 even after doing a calibration test through the bucket & then the box works out the flow factor ? Or is your 0.2 added from the flow factor on the Kuhn charts without doing a calibration test ?

Is the tractor ISO plug taking ground speed from radar, or from a sensor on the gearbox?
I converted our 30.1 Quantron E from wheel speed sensor to GPS, setting the Trimble 750 to simulate the pulses from a Dickey John radar if I remember correctly. No more issues with wheel slip.

Are you following tramlines? Are you sure you are running the right width of bouts? Could be you aren't quite running 24mtrs or something daft like that

I’ve the Kuhn app on my phone and getting the setting for the fertiliser off there but have done it by calibration before and it’s much the same it’s never bang on. Wished we got a 40.1
