kuhn disc coulters blocking

bought second hand kuhn power harrow drill with disc coulters 2009 model the discs block with soil between the 2 discs some of the rubber on the larger disc is coming off so removed the rubber but the ones with no rubber still blocking scraper seems just to be a bit of rubber not enough to keep inside of disc clean can anyone help

Sounds like the discs are worn too far down. That’s the same problem I was having with Kuhn disc coulters, fine when I put on the new set. I think there is a shim behind the small disc that may be taken out to work a while longer.

Shim is on the big disc i think. Is on mine anyway.

I've swapped the bearing on one disc this year. It turned by hand but not in soil.
It had a bit of band wrapped around the bearing that had pushed the seal off so I swapped bearing anyway.

Plastic hub and bearing are £35 each :nailbiting:but bearings are about £5 each. :happy:

Still having problems with coulters blocking.We tried making metal scrapers instead of the original rubber ones and they are slightly better but still not the complete answer as the scrappers need to be convex to fit inside the concave disc.If anyone has found the cure to the problem please let us know.

New discs are the cure sorry. I worked for a season with the discs like that, barley grew perfectly fine.
