Given the choice what do people prefer. I do like the look of the wrapping system on the kuhn, the extra wrap on the edges is a good thing, but the mchale is such a strong and reliable baler.

You have answered your own question here , the Mchale is also a lot easier to get in through narrow gates , it follows the tractor better.

We have had Fusions and now run 2 x Kuhn FBP's, access through gateways is identical but the ride quality from the tandem axle is far better than the Fusion's single and large tyre arrangement.

When McHale copy Kuhn's pick up and chopper, their film binding system and 3D wrapping the Fusion will be perfect.
If Kuhn can shorten their machine, put it on a single axle with bigger wheels, do something about cost of ownership and in this part of the world, find a dealer who can match the McHale dealers they might displace a few Fusions.

You're basically saying that the kuhn is the better baler at the moment....
You're exactly right about the dealer backup issue though - if that was sorted they'd sell a lot more in the east.

I don't know if the Kuhn is better, I haven't used one, but I know the Fusions I've used aren't perfect.

As other members have said, the feed intake on the Kuhn is far superior in all crops.
Out last Fusion 3 Plus would choke in short grass.
I've never owned a bad Fusion but the Kuhn 3135 with film binding suits what we do better in many ways.
Reliabity at this stage has been excellent.

Kuhn is around £1000 cheaper new, will be £10000 cheaper second hand

Personally last year the price to change my old fusion to either the kuhn or a new fusion was the same. Resale value and dealer backup swung it back to mchale - even though it's taken a year for mchale to sort out the bale density despite getting onto the dealer lots of times.

3D wrapping lets you put odd numbers of plastic layers on, so while your Mchale might have better resale value, you will have regained a good few £££ while running your Kuhn...

Standard is 6 layers, 4 does the job if your using them fairly soon, 5 gives better protection, at less cost than 6.
