3D wrapping lets you put odd numbers of plastic layers on, so while your Mchale might have better resale value, you will have regained a good few £££ while running your Kuhn... :)
3D wrapping is a good system and I'm assuming Kuhn have improved on it since the Vicon days when there were complaints that it was slow, but I can't see anyone in my area moving away from Fusions.

The 3D wrapping system on the Kuhn definitely makes a difference. Carting bales from field last week were a mchale Fusion and Kuhn FBP worked side by side. Birds had been at both sets of bales, you could see grass tufts been pulled out from fusion bales everywhere, were as the Kuhn bales hardly had a mark on them due to more film on the round of the bale (were you need it). You could also see the difference in the better shape and weight of the Kuhn bales over the mchale bales. Mchale is a good proven baler (Iv used them a lot), but the Kuhn is definitely one to give it a run for its money, if not beat it in my opinion.

Had the fusion before fbp kuhn and I moved purely because of problems I had with the mchale and in my area mchale backup not as good as the kuhn dealer , in fact there is no comparison between the two in terms of backup!
But running the kuhn last year on plastic ( not film ) like the mchale has I could see the difference in bale quality, baler also has far superior intake system especially notable in short grass , still packs it in very tightly
As jenks6910 said the protection on the bales in the field is noticeable side by side with fusion and bales holding there shape , would tell me there is more grass in the bales that hold there shape
Ps they were my bales jenks6910 was moving

But are you comparing like for like? I mean a Fusion 3 equipped same as Kuhn With 1000 speed gearbox, same pickup width and camless and are operators applying NRF at same stretch, running on same density etc. Are the bale weights been checked as opposed to perception? I had my kuhn out yesterday and the noise and rattling out of it and it’s only done 17k bales would drive u mad, had the fusion out in the afternoon and played iPhone through radio and chillaxed. I don’t think Mchales have anything to worry about Kuhn. I think Fusion are market leaders for a reason and that is they are designed to handle tough rough terrain with heavy crops. They are not perfect especially in the NRF area but I would not touch anything else unless it was say 40% cheaper. A new Fusion is 94k depending on spec, well that Kuhn would want to be max 60k for me to bother changing from something that works.

What spec is a 94k Fusion? Gold plated? Or are you not in the UK?

They run cling film over bales the mchale system kuhn run same film front as back 750mm rolls
I don't need to weigh them when a bale holds its shape and next to it is fusion running max density and bales lost shape , mchale will always out sell everything else , all I'm saying is im happy I made the move and so are my customers

on a bale weight I have compared in straw kuhn 230kg against fusion VARIO ( belt should really be the superior in straw ) vario 240kg the fusion 3 would be 200kg If you're lucky

We have found it the other way round with dealers backup from Mchale and the dealer has been first class where as the Kuhn dealer has not been great in the past. We have never run a Kuhn baler but have run other Kuhn kit and we were happy with it but the local dealer put us off Kuhn for as long as they sell it. If Kuhn was with the old dealer we would still probably be running Kuhn mowers and firt spreader and maybe more Kuhn kit.
