Who wants a bale that heavy? Why wouldn't you more in a bale = less wrap less bales so cheaper silage does it not ? .
I'm averaging 1100kg in some damper stuff of ours if I could get more in I would
Heavy bales kill diet feeders.

what is the point of really heavy bales. I run a McHale 5500 here and a roundpack for back up, run the roundpack to its limit and it stands it, run the McHale so that when it is netting it drops just back into the green area. customers seem happy and even for our own 800 I don't run it any higher, last time I changed a baler or busted one for pushing it it was only me paying for it so I try to run it to a good firm bale but not wreck the baler setting

Bale weights without a dry matter test is fairly pointless.
We looked at a Kuhn this season but went with mchale.

I have heard comments that the McHale system of front plastic is better as the plastic used is designed to keep the bale tight where as the back plastic is designed to keep the oxygen out.
the problem is that it’s nearly impossible to test the theory unless you put both systems on one machine.

Run both side by side so know how much was going into both balers so that would be same dm for 2 weeks
You alter the tension on the plastic on the Kuhn , when you’re putting plastic on instead of net you can see the bale is smaller as plastic pulling in tight , very tight you would struggle to get you’re fingers in between plastic and grass , very good system
And works consistently which I hear of McHale plus users not the case and swap back to net a lot of the time

Funny you should say that re the McHale as talking to a contractor today who said there far to much time lost baling with his Fusion 3+ unrolling and spreading busted bales due to film on film plastic problems and he wished he’d never seen it. Also said the rolls are stupidly heavy and it’s not a nice experience handling them.

Yes they haven’t got a good system at the moment, I’m sure they will copy kuhn very soon
Most I see running fusion plus around here are on net ! They like the idea of offering the service but gave issues and go back into net
The rolls of wrap going on front of kuhn are a doddle to put on

Got the fusion plus in 2015 did both in first year to let people try it 2016 people were asking for the plastic last year I had to go buy some net wrap cause a chap wanted some hay baling and I didn't have enough on roll i had sat in shed for years

I can change the front plastic tension on the fusion from the cab as well, so no real difference there.
As for people having to unroll bales, that sounds like an operator that’s either go an issue or a fault with the Baler that hasn’t been picked up.
Over 9000 bales we’d be lucky to have to roll out 20 bales. And it’s normally operator errror/end of a row. I’m told the newer baler is better at feeding plastic, we shall see....

backup was the decider for me.

Thickness of the plastic on kuhn going on front is same as back and I can put odd number of layers on , mostly 5 on the back , back up deciding factor for me plus problems with McHale bailing short stuff and other issues

[QUOTE="Mickeymatbro, post: 6925599,

there sure are some cool features on the Kuhn baler??

Nice looking bale, in NZ I can’t think when I last saw a bale with black plastic on it. I’m glad we don’t have issues with crows like the uk does!
