What are Kuhn H4 mouldboards like? As in trash and black grass burial and also ploughing grassland in an organic situation so must make a decent job.

options now are an N board for general purpose according to the Kuhn dealer, how do these compare to the H4 for example.

coming from Dowdeswell unc boards whitch are not really good enough and want to make a better job.

Hopefully someone might have experience or either Kuhn boards.

many thanks

We have replaced a Dowdeswell on YCN boards with a Kuhn on H4,the difference is night and day for ploughing in Maize stubble. Not ploughed any grass yet but i think others have said H4 isnt ideal for grass, cant see why not myself.Having said that,UCN would make a better job than our YCNs anyway.

I had a plough with LP66 boards and could not plough with them without them sticking terribly. Put up with it for 2 years then had to get rid of it for one with standard slats, not even the ‘wide tyre’ slats. The lp66 has a great big flat face on it and is very power hungry. It just used to bulldoze our lighter ground

Had a Kuhn on h4 boards and no issues at all apart from the fact a 20.8 or it’s metric equivalentwas maximum tyre width that would fit in furrow.I tried 650s but squashed too much down.now on lb166 and tgey are perfect for wide tyres.
