Kuhn plough vari or multi master

Looking at Kuhn ploughs secondhand, would the collective go for a vari master or a multi master if all other variables were the same. Have only have a fixed width before so unsure how much of an advantage having a vari master would be if any?

are they best thing ever as you can adjust the furrow width depending on what you are ploughing, ie grass or stubble

or are they not worth it with extra mechanical bits that would get much use? I realise I can open or close a multi master manually with some bolts and spanner’s but would like others views please.

Having used a 6 furrow version of both, the multimaster is best set at 14 inch and left. The vari-master was a lump of a thing to lift so required a fair bit of front weight. I barely adjusted furrow width, but it all comes down to soil type, if its similar across your land, then multi would probably be best, if its quite variable then having the vario width could make it more efficient.

This.ive had a 4 and a 5 furrow multi master.the 4 was on h4 boards at 14 inches and I tried 16 inches but it just would not work and pushed rather than turned soil.bought a new 5 furrow on LB bodies and it was set at 16 and I shut it down to 14 and left it at that.works well and can do best part of 3 acres an hour with 150 hp on the front.the multimaster is heavy but I’d imagine the varimaster is probably 10/15% heavier.
