Kuhn power harrows

Is there any real differences between HR3001, HR3002, HR3003 or HR3004 other than age?

Is a HR300x considerably better than a HR30x? (They have heavier duty gearbox?)

Am I alone in thinking Kuhn are over rated ?
Yes.

No they are reliable machines and have been for years, but most of the competitors have more rotors now and correct me if i'm wrong but think most have a higher RPM as well, leaving a better finish but take more horsepower.

Ours has done more work with more power on the front than previous lely, maschio and ransomes ones put together. No bother either.

Ours has only broken down once or twice in 30 years , trouble is it makes a sh!t job .

Had a 4m feraboli for the last few years and makes 10x the job .

Ours makes a far better job than the howard we also have despite the howard having more rotors per metre. It's a 3001 refurbished by andy guest about 12 years ago.

I was looking at new ones but Andy Guest can do a fully refurbished 3m HR3002 for £5950 with a years warranty, seems ok to me
Had our 3001 from him as part of a combi package about 12 years ago. Has battled it's way across almost 4000 acres of very flinty land with no complaints apart from a few sets of tines and packer scrapers. Still no leaks anywhere and have seen it spit quite a few rocks out over the years. Had about 170hp pulling it for last few years as well.

Wouldn't say they are overrated but those with them under rate the competition.
Amazone, Maschio & Lemken all make equally as good power harrows and have done for years yet all you hear from some is Kuhn, Kuhn, Kuhn.

A Kuhn power Harrow is rare as hen's teeth in my county as never had a decent dealer in the area. Amazone long been number 1 but increasingly being replaced by lemken but that's more to do with the drill that goes on top of most of them rather than the Harrow.

Our HR 3003 is 2001 done 700 ac per year other than tines and scrapers and rotor blade holders hasn't had a penny spent on it.
Maybe doesn't quite have the finish of some other makes but with only having 10 rotors it rides over our stones rather than picking them up at one end of the field and depositing them at the other end like the old twelve rotor mashio used to do.

Kuhn are better because they have less rotors. The idea of a power harrow is to just do enough, not more than enough. A 12 rotor will pulverise the soil where as a 10 rotor isn't as bad, but both give you a seedbed.

That's a good point , unfortunately our ground needs a damn good thrashing.

Slightly off topic.....are some makes easier to drive than others ?
It's slow going with our old Dowdeswell. Bottom gear all the way with our elderly 7810. Could probably go in 3rd and still produce a good enough seedbed.
