Kuhn Quantron A

Im looking at Kuhn axis 30.1q with Quantron A control box. I have a Leica mojomini 2 gps. Is it possible to link the two for a speed reading for the Quantron box and headland control?
And if so how?
Thanks

We've got a 30.1 with a quantron box and I feed it a speed signal from a trimble. You can buy all the plugs off ebay to make you own cable and the pin out is in the manual iirc.

I cant comment on the headland control, that's down to the leicia. I can't do it with mine though.

Could you please pm (or post) a wiring circuit for the Trimble? I object spending £360 on the equivalent cable from our local dealer!

I've miss placed a load of my notes somewhere but I've found a few bits.

Trimble Ez250 plug, pin 9 is radar out and you can use pin 8 as a earth.
Lumberg Sv81 plug, pin 6 is wheel speed theoretical, pin 7 is wheel speed radar and 2 is earth.

What I cant find is if I used pin 6 or 7 on the Lumberg plug and the settings in the Ez250 that need changing, I remember playing around for a while getting it all working right, it only cost about £30 to make and that included wrecking the first plug by mistake!

A good place for Deutsch plugs and pins is polevolt.co.uk (y)

Trimble ez250 pin out
Pin 1 - V(+) in
Pin 2 - V(+) out
Pin 3 - CAN_H
Pin 4 - EXT Switch in
Pin 5- RS-232 Rx
pin 6 - RS-232 Tx
Pin 7 - Signal GND
Pin 8 - Signal GND
Pin 9 - Radar out
Pin 10 - CAN_L
Pin 11 - V(-) out
Pin 12 - V(-) in

Try Mouser Electronics www.mouser.co.uk for Deutsch plug and connector gear too.

I used to get stumped with Lemo and ODU connectors but I've found good suppliers and small volume / custom cable makers here and in the states that will do it for reasonable money.

Can you check your website in your post. It's sending me to an Olympic sport website :D

Edit: one thing to watch with Deutsch DT connectors is the "keying" - these are the little plastic tangs that hang off the side of the connector. There are typically four key styles; A, B, C and D - just make sure you don't get for example a D keyed connector and try and plug it into an A keyed receptacle. Won't work!

Edited the link now :ROFLMAO:

That's a really good site, I've been looking for a Deutsch HD10 plug to make a diagnostic plug and they've got them (y)

Also didn't realise about the DT plugs and key styles, mine have all fit so far, but that must have been down to luck!

A and B keyed are the most common. A-keyed are coloured grey (but sometimes black). They have two tabs on either corner along the long (top) edge. B-keyed are black, with two tabs on either corner on the left side short edge.

C and D-keyed are less common. C-keyed are coloured green, with tabs on opposite corners. D-keyed are brown, with tabs on the opposite corners to C-keyed.

Sometimes there are supplementary keys too, but I wouldn't worry.

Mouser are very good price wise and they have virtually every connector, backshell etc that you will need. It's all shipped from Texas, not that you'd notice as its there in 2-3 days. Just buy enough to cover the £12.50 delivery charge.

I contacted the Leica dealer about getting a speed signal for the quantron box, they told me there is two spade connectors on the mojomini (one is positive and one is negative) giving speed signal and I just connect them to the box. How is possible to do this as the Kuhn dealer has no experience with Leica systems as they are dealers for Trimble.

I'm thinking about using gps control for this spreader. Im looking at trimble 750 and topcon x25. What are people opinions of these systems?

X25 has only been out about a year. I have quite a few out. Good little screen, PM me if I'm not already dealing with you via one of my dealers.

While it's fresh in my mind: For a 750 to a quantum e2 controller.

You need a 12 pin deutsch A-Keyed plug with pin 3 as radar out and pin 8 as earth.

On the sv81 plug I used 7 as radar out and 3 as earth.

Settings on the quantron e2 were as follows: Go to hopper settings, then speed signal (I think) select radar and use 7400 as your pulses per 100m.

On the Fm750 you need to select data output for whichever port you wish to use, then radar and use 20hz/kph.

Many thanks for all your help.

I can’t get it to work I get this on startup so presume it’s port A and pin 2 on mine which I’ve changed from the recommended pin 3.

The Quantron box is connected to pins 7 and 3 as recommended but still didn’t work. So I found manual online and it says pin 1 not pin 7. Either instructions don’t mention ground connection?
can anyone help @debe ?
