Evening folks,
I’ve a 2011 new to me venta seed flex and I’m struggling to get it to calibrate correct. Firstly the meter is going round fine then gets slower and is as though it gets tight and then frees and does this like jerky motion and secondly the number of turns on the box screen is different to the number I am counting as it’s going round.
has anyone got a solution to any of the issues I’ve got.
Thanks

It could be a couple of different issues, dose the metering unit turn smoothly when you turn it by hand, could be the bearing is getting ready to seize, there was a modification kit to stop this happening, the other thing to check is the clearance of the sensor that is on the metal sprocket, if the distance is slightly to great then the meter speeds up and slows down on its own, it’s quite awkward to check it’s been a couple of years since having these issues, hopefully been of some help

I’d say the sensor on the sprocket is about 1.5mm 2mm away from it. It’s been washed and put away last year. Where is the bearing located as I’d like to check this out tomorrow? How do I get in to it? Thanks

does your metering unit look similar to this? The bearing is inside the black plastic part between the sprocket and the sliver body of the metering unit

Yes unfortunately, it’s easier if you take it off the drill, it comes apart from the other end where you make the adjustments to the cell slide, you have to remove the fluted roller to be able to get to the fixings that hold the bearing housing to the metering unit

Definitely try it by hand and see if it's got a tight spot in it

We're on our 4th one now and up to now haven't had any issues with metering unit.

I know someone who put 4 drive motors on before finding out it was a bad connection in a plug . At least he's got 3 spare in stock now 🤣

Has anyones drill when lifting out st headlands and perhaps the drill is rocking abit over the ploughing does the metering unit stop the seed coming out. Ours is letting seed out (wheat) and quite a lot really to be concerned it’s wasting it. Is there a seal or something you can change?

Only seal is a rubber one under the metering roller .

Are you sure you're top link sensor is switching it off 100%
