Kverneland plough with slatted boards

looking at a second hand plough that has slatted boards at present, how expensive would it be to change to normal boards? Realise the frogs would all need changing but not sure if it’s cost effective.

I know someone who did this it's not cheap his cheap second hand plough didn't work out very cheap by the time the dealer changed it over for him

Just run the slats I had mine out a couple of days again at the end of the season and it's got it's plus points over a 28 board

Will a slatted board handle a 710 tyre as well as a 28 though?

KV say yes we ran a slat for years. On stubble they are great but no so good on grassland. We never tried it on 710s but it was fine on 650.

Better if I've got my new plough behind your old tractor it's fine in light ground but in heavy stuff I can't match it the slats leave a wider bottom and turn it over further when we were ploughing grass out the slatted plough was burying it better every other 10 furrows behind the drill there was more turf coming up behind the drill after the 28 board

They don't like ploughing shallow in grass at speed and like to be lying over towards the ploughing not at 90° like a boarded plough

Slats are supposed to be better on stickier soil. No idea if they are or not but what I was told when I was struggling with soil sticking to my 28 boards that were polished to perfection.

Yes i can have it sticking to the skim boards and the slats running clean this has been a bad summer for a 28 board sticking

We have done this a few years ago. Went from slatted no 8's to solid no 9's. They were used ones we got hold of, can't remember off the top of my head cost. Would need to try and look back when I'm in the office.
Just got fed up replacing a different slat or plastic spacer every other day and also leaving winter ploughing too broken up for our liking.
We did use them on 710 tyres at times and found they were matching up not too badly.
