If it is a conventional plough with leaf springs and in good condition, fine. Personally would avoid the semi-automatic ones with small coil springs because reversing to rest the bodies will send you dool-alley over a few days work.

you will have a job to find any KV that hasnt had the beam welded up:D

Now John just because you didn't like em don't mean their a bad plough:p:D , the sprung 4 rev we had never seen a welder, although not a big plougher but did 100-120 for 20 odd years trouble free.(y)

Only thing that happened in that time was a piece broke in the spring mech linkage and the inevitable furrow body falling off...easy and quick to fix though.

Although you do look like a bit of a tool carrying 2 furrs home with the telehandler:D

anybody who doubts a kv should take a look at past world champion ploughmen, more often than not kv

there an awful lot of difference between pulling 2f at 7" deep on a perfect bit of ground to trying to force 4f through wet clay with a 150hp 4wd on the front though. KV may be alright for boys land, but anything with some guts to it and they just fall to bits!

what about 200+ and 5 furrow 10/14 inch deep up to 20 wide bog oaks, stones lot of road work and still no welds and will turn it over properly, not to forget the press, had a 7 furrow like you wher on about on other thred for 10 years wth trip beams and alot of big stones outcrop rock could have all 7 break back at once only had to weld and replace front beam later ones are thicker.

i just cant see why people think so much of them, i class them as very poorly designed in a lot of aspects, especially the headstock
Just like jocky deares the cream rises to the top,how you rate them is irrelevant as there the most popular plough on the market so most folks rate them highly.

I know of atleast 5, 5 furrow reversible KV ploughs with no welding on beam, headstock or any other part of the main frame some of these are 20+ years old.
Talkin out ya arse again John!

as i have said before there is no match for a KV plough on this lighter ground, next best is Overum and it isnt far behind.
The rest you will struggle to make a decent job with, often due to mould boards sticking! not alot you can do about that.

So in your world what is the best make of Plough then?
what should i buy to replace my KV and not be dissapointed?

Got chance of one of these, spring release, 4 furrow. Its old but in good shape, Are they strong enough?
Can you still get shares etc for it ok? Some of these older implements getting obsolete, you can weld things up but only once or twice, and welded shares will bend if you hit something

Got a kv 5 furrow hydraulic variwidth, cracking plough!!!:ROFLMAO: And no not the sort of cracking your thinking of I'm afraid DB John. makes a lovely job and burries the trash very well. It has the 200headstock and seems stong enough with no problems so far, 5years old. I know on the earlier ones the 240 headstock wasn't strong enough. The 200 is stronger and man enough.

when my arse gets as big as your head il be getting somewhere!!!"

On this land, KV wouldntt even last till dockey tme, let alone hometime

If i had to buy a new plough today, it would be a dowdeswell, if they couldnt provide what i wanted, it would be a kuhn. Both built like proverbial brick sh!t houses.

Had a dowdeswell and good job I had a welder too! In all fairness it was a DP8 3+1+1! In my experience they don't plough the soil over so well.

thats why you buy a DP7! Which incidentely is what im looking for, after having a KV, ransomes, vogel and noot and a lemken, on this land a DP7 on scn bodies wins hands down every time

i smashed a kv "160" headstock apart with little over 100hp on our land, simply ripped all the bolts out of the turnover crank, and broke the link between the headstock and the beam.

Does KV stand for "made out of marzipan and ground up bus tickets" in danish?????????
