Kverneland - Tellus or Tellus Go?

Weighing up each option for a Geospread fertiliser spreader.

Anybody with experience of either or both willing to shed some light? Functionality and cost both factors to consider.

Tellus go for space saving .

We got a tellus on a free upgrade in 2017 but if I was doing it again I'd just have a go box .
I wanted the tellus so I could see both spreader and auto shut off without swapping page's but now I've had it a while I don't really look at either you just let it all get on with it till the field is finished.

Thanks. That sounds handy advice.

@Phil P would you agree? If I remember right you have a Tellus and kept it when you swapped from your CL.
Yes still got the big tellus and to be fair I could probably have managed with the smaller screen as I run a separate guidance screen on the older spreading tractor anyway.
However I do the bulk of the spreading on the 6215 these days and run through the tractor isobus and find it a much nicer and more responsive setup than the tellus. It also shows the spreader and guidance on the one screen.

If I didn’t already have the tellus I’d probably look at fitting a jd isobus loom in my older spreading tractor and run everything through the jd screen. But that’s just me it will depend what screens you already have available and what you can run on them as to whether you need another.

Just remember if your pricing a tellus you will need to account for any additional activations such as section control or variable rate etc.
Like I say, If you’ve already got a screen with isobus and the activations I’d just use that and not bother with a tellus.

As for the spreader, well, what more is there to say! Just look though the many “which spreader” threads and it’s apparent it’s the spreader of choice for many forum members.

Personally, I’ve found it super simple to setup, use and incredibly accurate. Just press start and it does the job, also now on 1m sections with the latest software which makes it even more accurate and saves more fert. However did we manage without weigh cells? My contracting customers love the fact I can put exactly what’s needed in the spreader rather than just dropping a full bag in on the last field then have to drop out what’s left over or lose it somewhere!

Thanks, that's handy.

Have a TL at the moment (non-geospread) so it's the logical upgrade option. Neither tractor is really set up well - both are 2008, one has a screen the other doesn't but hear reports the screen isn't the best anyway. Nothing unlocked to section control currently either. Have a Trimble screen doing steering but it isn't ISOBUS.

So pretty much starting from the beginning, hence the Tellus/Tellus Go to make it fully independent seemed the logical option.

Handy to hear everyone's thoughts.

If you have nothing that will do the job well then the tellus will do but bear in mind that the geo spreader still needs an iso power socket so you’ll still need to fit a loom to the battery which isn’t something you’ll want to be swapping between tractors every day!
And as you say there are better screens on the market, if I was starting from scratch an know what I do now I would have made my jd screen work and not bothered with the tellus.

Just another idea thinking outside the box but is it worth looking at an iso screen that will do autotrac in the future? The tellus will run other iso equipment and give basic guidance but won’t autotrac.
Is there anything on the new grant scheme that could make one of your tractors autotrac and run the spreader.

Thanks. You've got me thinking now having meintoned the ISO power socket. I'm pretty sure that might be the same or similar as I have for my existing Focus II box. I've just got that rigged up with an Anderson connector to make it easier to move between tractors.

Current Trimble screen (FM-750) does the steering, but won't do ISO.
New Trimble screen would do both, and so as you say might be a more logical screen to buy and unlock given it will do both rather than shelling out on a more limited Tellus screen.....the only danger is hiccups if things don't talk to one another and everyone says it's the other brand's issue. Probably less likely nowadays.

I know the KV support guy very well which is handy, I had a software problem with mine shutting the autotrac off on my jd. Because I’m running the old tellus the dealer had put the software on the spreader to suit but it was then messing up the jd. KV wrote and installed new software within 24h.
Can’t fault the backup from them, also helps having KV-UK 20 minutes up the road.

The tellus is great for holding the activation codes. We use it for extra screens on isobus tractors, we put cameras through it and the jd drill. It’s a universal screen as KV originally developed the system. I would recommend it if you intend to have other isobus machines.

Couldn’t tell you whether the go or pro would suit you more. Flicking screens is a pita for us as we run the guidance through it as it’s easier to use than the little datatronic screen.

Had the original Tellus Go from the start & do like the fact it shows everything on one decent size screen.
but its all unlocked for section control & vari rate etc etc.
starting its 8th season next year.
Had the odd hicup but on a whole back up is decent.
Newer one is called the Pro i think its just faster & can run autoguidance now i think.
Like some have said if your tractor had isobus then its a diff story

The new full size Tellus appears to be called the Pro.

The Tellus Go is now Tellus Go+.

:scratchhead: most confusing!

Thanks. I doubt I would use the Tellus for guidance as it's all tramlines here....and any spreading on stubbles would be done with autosteer through the Trimble screen.

Its all extra money if u could do isobus you would need so screens probs saving a fair bit
so its just what ever you need i guess.
Lesser screen will still do the job just a lot of screen flicking id assume
i like to see what machine is doing in its settings constant weights etc etc & Map screen below all time
