Labour MP wants livestock farming phasing out in 20 years

No one ever mentions that, with organic & regen ag (I know everyone will say "organic" can't feed the world) no bagged Nitrogen is used, this bagged N is made by using natural gas, a fossil fuel. Vegan/Veggie diet has to rely on bagged N instead of crop rotation and cow muck for fertility. I wonder which system is better for the soil and climate change in the long term?

The labour MP for inner city Plymouth, Luke Pollard, is also Shadow Defra secretary and may benefit from some education.
All renewables for energy, and he marches with the AR lot and loves all badgers, TB infected or not.
Bless

I dread the day they are found to be electable, one of their rank called for white men not to put up their hands during debates. If that is not racism against white people then what is it? Hopefully they have provided enough ammunition to the Tories to keep them out of office for some while, Angus.

At the moment we have all these self proclaimed experts telling us how everything is going to change and how wonderful its all going to be in future. There is zero recognition that the planet is over populated with humans and nothing will be done to stop numbers increasing.

I expect these people will get increasingly irrate in the years to come as they find people don't want to eat plastic meat. They will soon find out there is no possibility of banning new diesel and petrol vehicles in 2030. The whole thing is a fantasy created in their own minds

The human population is already self limiting and will decline rapidly in all continents apart from Africa, starting around twenty year's time. In Europe there is already a steep decline. The birthrate is below the 2.1 children required to sustain population numbers.
Even so, pure mathematics dictates that in countries where the birthrate is only just recently down to that threshold, the population will continue increasing due to the people already born and not yet ready to die. As the 'baby boomers' die off in large numbers over a decade or two, then there will be a more rapid decline in populations.

Which poses its own problems of course. Who will sustain the economy, pay the older population's pensions and healthcare, look after the old people, drive the trucks and grow the economy? Hold on… that rings a bell!

Please note in the Dairy sub forum that there is a thread running on a 2 pence per litre PRICE CUT for organic milk whilst most conventional dairies are putting their prices up by between 1-1.5 ppl

Interesting, ne c'est pas?

I couldn't read that link unfortunately but as I've said before this gives food for thought;

Just to emphasise, before the usual warriors start accusing, I am afraid this will happen but I hope it will not.
It probably will happen because there will be billions of $ to be made by large corporations controlled by a few mates of politicians.

I suppose it would limit even further if the population was highly aged. The ageing population will have lives shortened by lack of care /nutrition?

Apparently China is about to report that for the first time in 5 decades it's population has dropped, even after the 2015 relaxation of the 1 child restriction.
The last time the population dropped was when tens of millions died during the 1959 to 1961 Great Leap Famine, when Mao ordered the export of crops even as millions starved.
Central planning of the economy, really successful as usual.

While interesting in concept it fails to mention the base product that will provide the stock they will make all this food from, everything needs a base some form of food or organic matter that gets converted into fake meat etc.
You cannot just mix a few chemicals together and get millions of tonnes of food and all the nutrition it needs to contain.

While I can see grain fed meat taking some stick from some groups and it having a hard time being carbon neutral, not all animal meat is produced like that.
It wasn't easy to find in their report but they do say that sugar would be the cheapest feedstock so that might be a bonus for you beet growers.

Apparently that happened because all the local gauleiters reported inflated figures for grain stocks to make themselves look better to central govt. Mao took these as correct and the rest is history.
