Lagoon Ramp

Looking to dig a clay lined lagoon 5m deep (2.5 in ground and 2.5 banked up). Will want to tanker out of it as well as umbilical so was planning on a concrete ramp. What gradient would be needed to allow full tankers to draw out off the slope? Might have to change dimensions of lagoon to suit this. Any help would be appreciated

Why not put a pipe through the bank to a sump at the bottom of the lagoon.Connect tankers or pump to this, gravity fed when lagoon full and no need for a tanker ramp.Put two gate valves on the pipe to avoid "accidents".

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by a sump exactly? Sounds like an easier option. Could always take a 360 down the slope to dig any sand out

We don't have a sump or low point in our pit and when emptying always leave 9" to 12" behind becuse tankers suck air down through the slurry.Wouldn't happen with the sump.

You’d be surprised how shallow a ramp you will need and that takes up a lot of space. We extended last year and in a perfect world I would’ve had a pipe through the wall and then you have a small pit outside that takes any overflow that remains in the pipe.

It means that you should always get everything out of the pit too and a lot easier going on the tanker as not having to lift
