Lairg ram sale - advice

Hello all,

I am looking for some recommendations from TFF members who have buy or sell rams at the Lairg NCC sale over the years, as to who / where I
could buy really good and correct maternal tups from.

I have been to the sale a few times in the past and have bought rams from 2 flocks I believe no longer exist (Attonburn, Torrish) that have done well here, and from 2 others that have not done so well.

I have a very strict no extra care policy in my own flock, with ewes expected to survive and thrive on grass and good forage alone, bar some pre-lambing licks in the spring.
Hill Cheviots are always hardy but I’m looking to buy from somewhere that is very strict over what makes the grade as a sale tup - no weaknesses in his genetic history, no pampering whilst still looking good and a decent lambing percentage for the ground that they’re on.
Basically I’m looking for no nonsense, good quality 2 shear rams for keeping ewe lambs from.

To avoid any bad mouthing or everybody taking the same advice and bidding up the price (!) please PM me your thoughts.
Thanks.
