Lamb gone of legs for a 2nd time

Has anyone got any ideas what may be going on with her? She’s 2 1/2 weeks old and has been a pet lamb since birth. She was hyperthermic and also had a small hole pecked in her skull from crows. Apart from a bad start she’s been just fine and an extremely keen drinker ad lib.

A week ago she was flat out in the morning with her neck & head outstretched. Her eyes were flicking up & down constantly and she went stiff every now and then as if she was having a spasm of some sort. She could still suck from a bottle with a bit of help. I gave her Alamycin LA300 and left her to see what happened. Next morning she was 100% back to normal.

Today she’s done it again. I’ve picked her up and massaged her all over, given her Alamycin again. She tries to suck my earlobe when I pick her up and she’s alert in her head. She is now sitting up on her own but I have no clue what’s causing it.

Any ideas.....?

I have a short video but cannot get it to upload.

Hows the head injury now? Could it be a meningitis type thing? I'd guess at some sort of infection if the alamycin helped.... But that may have just been coincidence and it would have recovered anyway!

It does look very similar to a meningitis case. Her head has healed up nicely now but she did feel quite warm to the touch.

When I last looked she was unable to walk still but could sit up unaided. Her eyes were more stable too. I can only see what the morning brings with her.

She’s a little fighter but I have a feeling she’ll end up doing what sheep do best.

Do you think a 2nd shot of Alamycin at 72hrs would be worthwhile?

Thanks

Could she have an infection? Stronger penecillin?

I don't know what the best drug would be but I think I would keep giving it alamycin as it seems to be helping until you can discuss with your vet, (y) at which time would ask about if it's worth a shot of metacam maybe?

Good news!

She has shown a massive improvement overnight and this morning. I stood her up and she can stand unaided briefly. She has taken a few wobbly steps and has taken 2 small feeds from the bottle. Her temperature has also come down too.

She is currently sat up in the sun in the front porch. Her head is still mildly shaking and she still looks like she’s had one too many down the pub.

Quite hopeful for her today. Going to stick with the Alamycin for her next injection.
