It’s cold wet torrential rain here again this morning, fields had just dried up ever so slightly, back to quagmire again now though. Honestly feel like going back to bed as absolutely knackered and fed up :(

I think this week has been worst so far. Lambs got wet on Tuesday and it has been cold drizzle ever since apart from a downpour overnight.
We lamb inside and are still losing lambs when turned out. It should warm up after today.

this morning i checked the sheep at 9am, late i know but was helpign someone elses with theres first. had a ewe eating the hay but her water bag had come out and tbf looked liked it had been out some time. went back up about 1.45 and still nothing so i lambed her. she wasnt even pushing. first lamb gasping for air and star gazing a bit, wasnt easy to lamb. think hell be a goner. got the second out ten minutes after as i was trying to get the first one going. second ones fine and up on its feet. do you think i intervened too soon? just had a bad feeling with the length of time and the condition the ewes are in, plus ive had some big singles the last couple of days. gave the sheep painkillers and anti biotics.

bad enough the weather killing them, worse when its possibly me.

Hard to ever know. If the lambs are alive and well and the ewe is ok thats the most important thing. If youd lambed her and had 2 dead lambs youd he kicking yourself for not lambing her sooner

Not sure if it is sheer dumb luck or just the fact that we had more singles this year than usual or because we had our ewes winter shorn so they're more careful or because of the breeds but given the weather we have had we have only had just under a dozen die out in the fields as opposed to the numbers we lost in one storm where the ewes trampled, smothered and drown the lambs in mud where they piled all into one corner.
