Lamb price falling like a stone.

Yes weather is to do with it, but still falling to fast, 40kg making 60£ next month. If this brexit carry on isn't sorted soon, l can see 40kg making 40£ again next year, with that and no Sfp to fall back on, l think l will be stacking shells in asda in 2020, not farming sheep, hopefully that won't happen.

F**k sake do you never post anything positive or cheery?!?? Always doom and gloom!

Lamb trade 40kg is still around £80ish, with 44kg+ still up around £100. The drought making lambs smaller and lighter isn't helping but demand is still there for larger lambs... just not many folks have the larger lambs. Market becoming 'flooded' with less desirable lambs pulling trade down.

Not much unexpected at this point. We need rain, simple as that.

Why is fat lamb price falling so fast? Down 29p a kilo at Stirling today, and not a big number forward? A bit worrying for next mouth onwards.
Guess most people have weaned now if not there ready to wean.. with this heat not a lot of grass to turn lambs into so options are ween on to no grass go backwards or sell for what buyers are willing to pay.. taking into account there are a lot of lambs this time of year so high supply little demand = big money losses for producer...buyers, markets, abattoirs, wholesales and retail continue to make the same percentage on every pound spent! so makes no diffrence to them. in fact means they can buy more for there money.. it’s historic if you look at the previous years dips nothing new except less grass

Hasn’t sterling dropped like a stone today, after the cabinet shenanigans? That give us a healthy bounce in the next few weeks.

I confidently predict there will be more upheaval in Westminster over the coming months, as every career politician rushes to pass on the poison chalice that is Brexit. Nobody will ever be able to deliver a deal that pleases everyone, with half the country wanting out and the other half wanting to stay in. The financial markets will continue to write off the UK economy at least until ‘something’ is signed, keeping the pound low.

(Cheerful enough for you @Nithsdale Farmer ?:))

Sufficiently (y)

The cabinet are resigning because they know they can not deliver what was promised (what the slim majority voted for).

Everything is pointing to another election IMO, which will suit the Tory's - because Labour are almost gifted power now, they'll have to clear up the mess (and do a failed negotiation)... once the dust has settled them barstewards will say they can save us from Labour all over again

I really do hate Corbyn though..... the new labour is nothing like the old labour, the new labour is all animal rights activities and protesters of everything going.

The like wasn’t for the likelihood of an election:nailbiting:, although I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we saw one within the next year or so.
I ‘m not convinced Corbyn would get in tbh, more likely a hung parliament with the Lib Dems getting a few seats as they appeal most to the ardent remainers (the only party pushing to stay in). A hung parliament would be the worst of all fudges, but at least it will keep the pound low as the money markets pile into other currencies.

Labour are not as far left as they are made out. 'New Labour' with Tony the Tory was more right than left. BBC bias (broadcast mouthpiece for whichever party is In power) has moved the 'centre' to the right (this happened under the Coalition as the Tory's manouvered to gain majority), to make the Tory's seem not so bad and show Labour as extreme left.

It's all a load of rubbish.

But Corbyn is anti-EU so surely he is better than May for negotiations

All I can give is my stock answer in these situations 'things are never as good or as bad as they first seem' Followed by I 'I will sweep the floors to feed my family'
