Always give luck on finished stock
When we already sell our livestock away at give away prices I don't see much sense in also giving away cash... In most other industries a seller offering a buyer a back hander, cash under the table incentive if they purchase a product would be considered to be bribery, corruption and tax avoidance! I know others on this forum disagree with me but frankly I would rather see HMRC clamping down on the practice until we see the back of such nonsense…

that will make em lighter, i would also encourage you to do this if i was buying your stock by weight, to be fair should not effect carcass weight though if selling dead weight?
I got caught selling a load of store cattle, decided so much per kilo liveweight. Stinking hot day weighbridge was11 miles, as that one was on his root, nearest was 8 mile. Lorry was caught up in a traffic jam, fatal car accident, cars could detour round, but lorry and drag, not a chance, took 5 hours !

Vet told me there is no wormer licenced for use in sheep that will kill tape worm?

White wormer will kill most common tapeworm species I think (& on the label last time I looked), but the only sheep wormer including Paziquental (the same ai as in Drontal) was Levitape, which is now off the market here.

That's a really good point but how am I supposed to know if it's got a tape worm problem? As said these lambs were good lambs. Also would it have meant the whole carcass being chucked?

Exactly, as far as you were aware in terms of medical history etc & your eye/opinion as livestock man it was fit. As a buyer they also thought it fit obviously.
I'd tell market in no uncertain terms.

Zanil, Oxyclozanide. Dose on label is 4,4 ml per 10 kg max dose per ewe 20 ml does Taenia ( tapeworm) and fluke.
14 day withdrawal

Interesting. I’ll have to see if I still have a Levafas Diamond bottle and see if there is mention on there. I certainly don’t remember seeing it though.

Strangely, Levafas Diamond is Oxyclozanide + Levamisole, yet only has a 5 day meat withdrawal in the UK for some reason. :scratchhead:

You would need to check with a SQP but I think that small animal 10% Panacur will be exactly the same as Panacur 10% for cattle. (Which is more than likely a lot cheaper). The sheep Panacur is only 5% so won't do.

10% cattle or 2.5% for sheep but the product itself is the exact same - the % is dilution strength...

10% is 1ml to 20kg dose rate
2.5% is 1ml to 5kg dose rate

“Sell live and thrive”.....these out of pocket live market incidents are fairly rare compared with the common activity of “sell dead, see the grades and scratch your head.”

If you question grades, simply cut a draw of lambs and get them sent to two separate abattoirs and see how they compare.

Or, go and see them once hung up.

Maybe your lambs aren't as good as you think.
