Lamb/Sheep scales

@exmoor dave sooty, a have worded that badly, we have a manual 3 way draft pratly. That has electronic weigh scales.
I've a friend who fatten 0000s of hogs who has the model your on about, and he loves it. 6k to buy mind, but he says he just stands in the forcing pen, feeling a few backs to make sure there fit, and has 3 different pens at the front for fit nearly fit and no where near fit. Says he wouldn't go back, we always weigh with 2 of us. One on the crate and one forcing. So I can see it has huge benefits. Don't this you would wanna move his though, as we often weigh in the field the lambs are at.

Resurrecting an old thread here but I’m having a strong look at the digital sheep/lamb weigh crate by allied weighing and wondered if any members owned and or have used this crate.......would welcome any views. Quite a few things I like about it, the price being one of them. Not keen on hinged doors, would rather have sliding or scissor type doors but not a deal breaker. Had a word with Allied (Andy) he got across that it is very strong and possibly a bit bigger than some which made me wonder if a lamb could possibly turn round in it? It’s not got tapered sides like some do. Opinions on the indicator and general access to the lamb?

I've not got their weigher, but I converted a pig weigh with their kit, smaller lambs turning around is really, really annoying [emoji36]
Slows the job down and winds me up. Luckily most of them are getting too big now.

Just had a word with a producer of a certain weigh crate. He does an analogue and a digital version. He is not keen on his own digital version because he feels that they are to be frank not very robust and not very accurate..... which I thought was very honest of him to admit that! Opinions on those with digital regarding that they are indeed as the name implies only an “indicator”

Really? I have an old IAE pig weigher that has been converted with Pharmweigh suspension cells and a EaziWeigh2 head unit (many years ago). I would say it has been bang on, every time.

I also have a CombiClamp, to which I have added weigh bars and an Eaziweigh head unit, which can be slightly more variable tbh. I think that’s more down to the CombiClamp set up not being quite right (less rigid), rather than the weighing gubbins though.
I do know that I sure as hell wouldn’t want to go back to estimating the weight from the best guess on a constantly moving spring balance though.:banghead:

We've got a TruTest suspension cell that is no longer required if anyone's interested. Worked well in our old Bateman crate (which we've since sold) but I had to put the old spring gauge back on to get any interest in it.
