This year I had one lamb get swayback at about 24hr old, and this morning I have found another one, this one is approx 2-3 weeks old and has been outside for a couple of weeks. It looks like swayback but I thought it only affected young lambs?
There is something that can affect older lambs, seen it run through a flock I worked with a few years ago. Can't remember the cause though, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be able to help!
We've had the odd Texel X lamb go off their back legs over the years - usually ones that are doing really well. Apparently they can get an abscess type growth that presses on their spinal chord. Have treated them successfully with a course of antibiotics.
Copper deficiency in the ewes mid pregnancy leads to it in young lambs iirc and then deficiency in growing lambs causes it in those.
Have a look in the NADIS section under TE deficiencies
Copper deficiency in mid pregnany. Can be a fine line not to poison some sith copper. We have only had it in Blackfaces. My understanding is that the nerve damage is already done but will not become apparent in some until the lamb gets heavier and then starts to stagger about.
