Lamb WON'T stand

Ewe had twins 1pm yesterday. Check 630pm one flat out (thought dead). Managed to walk after I got her up but lagging behind ewe & ewe not waiting/calling/generally interested in this one (twin fine). So decided to bring her home. By time got back she flat out unresponsive. Gave 30ml of 40% glucose intra peritoneal & she perked up. Had 4 tube feeds through night & decent bottle this morning. She can stand but just won't! If I lift her & hold her she'll stand & walk about. But then go down & won't get up again. Bright alert lively & noisy otherwise.
Ideas???

It sounds to me like it's had a rough lambing. If it's lively enough keep going with the tlc. I'd be rubbing it all over with a towel and generally massaging it. Move it on to a bottle if it will suck and keep encouraging it to get up. It's a bit ominous that the ewe left it I have to admit.

You know what the other alternative is - sorry.

:eek: Surely, not a problem with one of those 'magical' Lleyns:LOL::LOL:

Seriously though, we had one in the early batch that was just the same. Did as you have done and lifted it to the cade pen. Mrs YB 'messed about ' with it (pen/strep, vit injection, etc, etc) for two weeks. One day it seemed better, the next not so good and so on until even she admitted defeat (and believe me, I've seen her succeed with some proper 'basket cases')

Sometimes ewes know a lamb 'is not right' and just walk off with the good one.

Hope you have a better result with yours. I hate having to waste a life but when you've given them every chance it's all you can do.

This is my little girl, note the bent front legs. Managed to walk, in a fashion for a while and then got steadily worse..had to give up after three weeks when she couldn't get up at all. :(
