I don't like to be reminded of any lambing! To be fair 2019 wasn't the worst, at least the weather was very pleasant and plenty of grass ahead of them... but started with a string of aborted or weak lambs and then too many singles, must have set ourselves a new low record in terms of lambing percentage :banghead:
Sounds like you need to get them vaccinated against abortion, you’ve got classic signs of it there.

Sounds like the lambing from hell that befell here once [wince]. Enzo and Toxo vaxed - huge faff, cost a bit, but did them all - and (touch wood) haven't looked back.

Only do the ewe lambs now, and that's for Enzo only. Stopped the Toxovax a few years ago reasoning there's a good chance that ewe lambs are exposed to the bug when run through the lambing sheds during the normal routine during the year.

Cevac were in Welshpool market on Monday, offering to blood test cull ewes there FOC, to screen for EAE. I thought that a good idea (although didn't take them up as EAE not been an issue here and none of the culls were slippers). Presumably they are in other marts at the moment too?

Could have done without this greeting me when I checked the last few ewe lambs to drop.

Not many foster opportunities left!

Had an old ewe drop a single lamb last year with milk on only one side. Decided to keep her as she always has fab lambs but put her to the ram who had fathered more singles than twins last year. Guess what ? - she had triplets this year and had managed to feed them all with a little bottle feeding for two of them. The third lamb didn't have a drop from the bottle as it was never interested. Out of 8 lots of triplets 1 ended up as twins and 3 had sets had additional milk the others raised their own. We had more twins on the bottle than we did triplets.
