Lambing cameras for remote shed?

Is there any way of having cameras in a shed that I use for lambing that is not near to where I live? 2 mile away.

Would a dongle be ok as an internet source?
Can I then access the live footage on my phone?
Ability to record would be an advantage as it would be used as outside cctv when not needed for the sheep.
Simple terms please

Do you mean using a 3G/4G SIM card in your mobile dongle? Or can you access a wifi router somewhere near The latter would be more reliable, and MUCH MUCH cheaper.

But yes, you can hook a camera to your dongle, either by wireless or hardwired, then onto the wonder that is the internet.

This unit states :Data is only used whilst viewing live/recorded images

Pretty essential, I would say!


PS. I like the option to run off a 12v battery. Pop a solar panel on a nearby roof and good to go on an outlying shed. However, the camera pulls 1amp I think it said, so panel sizing needs some consideration.

Ouch on price! They also need power for the wireless repeaters, and best with a directional antenna

The OP said 2 miles away, so definitely pushing the range with a bridge and not an easy DIY fix. I used a bridge powered with a POE setup to push range for a camera.

Not going to be cheap whatever you choose, but save a couple of lambs or a ewe, and the cost will not feel so bad?
