Ok I know Rams aren't even out for months yet. But I'm trying to pick at my lambing things and try to find things I can do better or change to make things better. In the thinking maybe I'm Abit lacking in areas that affects lambs later in life. First question is how many ml does a new born lamb get per kg. And any other tips anyone can give me to help me would be appreciated. Again I know it's super super early but just want to get into more detail and improve things ahead of time
Thanks

Tag at birth or few days old, im not as far as a eletronic reader etc good old book and pen, suprising when lambs are older and marks have run off.....youll find your producers and your underperformers

I tagged about 20 of my pure ewe lambs this past spring to record in my book but found they just ripped them out of here ears after a few days so decided to stop as didn't like seeing the ripped ears

With regard to your question on mk per kg, the Adas (I think) lanbing course I did many moons ago stated 50ml per kg every 4 hours, which would be 1/2 pint every 4 hours for an average lamb.

Thanks. I can't remember now if I did front or back of ear but was close to head. Shearwell tags to. Each lambing and tupping i feel I do all I can to have healthy Rams and lambs at lambinf but doesn't seem to show in the end of the day

Haven't had blood done for few years but ewes were slightly low on iodine at the time. They get bolus and lambs have started to get mineral doses. Lambs been getting creep for 5 weeks now roughly maybe 6

Will have to try. Still have 200 lambs to sell from this year. So going have to go through this week and sell a chunk as stores again. Just thinking maybe something I'm doing at lambinf is affecting there thriving

I know to my scale isn't that overly big compared to some. But just want to make sure I get the most out of my sheep and ground that I have. Anther question. On silage and being inside how many weeks pre lambing do ewes need fed .silage I hope be tested. I always seem to struggle with milk issues

I've had a lamb loose one of its tags (all double tagged) out of approx 570 lambs. All done at 24-36 hours old.
Front of the ear as close as possible to the head.
We tagged all our lambs within 2 days of birth this year as son wants to record and I was sceptical about tag retention. To date we have sold 500 fat of which 2 had lost tags. Used Shearwell tags in front of ear about third of way from head.

I shall try to do it again next spring to tag at birth again to have better records.
Got two new Rams today so that's start of new blood lines
