Lamborghini 674-70 grand prix

Hello all,

Recently bought a 1989 Lamborghini 674-70 grand Prix. It has 40kph stickers on it but only seems to do about 20kph. All the gears and ranges seem to work. Does anyone have experience of these tractors? Is that just the way they are or is there a possible fault?

Thanks

It's in v. Can't feel powerspeed splitter changing but not sure what it should be like? Is powerspeed like a half gear it goes into automatically? It is only a 4 speed right enough

If it’s a 4 speed it won’t have the powerspeed splitter and will be 30k. Post a few photos of gear levers etc
Pictures for you. It is 4 speed but says powerspeed on the bonnet so I don't know?

Thanks

It’s the 5 speed that are powerspeed, the electronic switch for the clutchless splitter is on the gear knob. Yours has a splitter type on forward only on a dog leg on the shuttle lever. Hardly ever saw that type of 4 speed and have no recollection of actually visiting the internals of one!!

Looks like someone been pimping it with some stickers.
4 speed is 30k only.
No power speed , mechanical, splitter on far right lever.
Good simple reliable tractor never gave much trouble if driven correctly/ sympathetically.
If not the levers can break under the runner grommet at the bottom , there is a ball, spring and socket arrangement with a roll, pin through the lever and rough operators would snap the lever through the roll pin hole.
The synchro forks can wear if you drive with your hand on the levers constantly as the weight of your resting arm push the fork against the synchro and it wears the side out of the fork then you end up with the lever not traveling far enough to overcentre the synchro and people forcing it and break the lever as above.

High hour Loader tractors with that splitter lever arrangement used to wear the selector peg and it was possible to take the lever out of the slow splitter but the peg would pass between the selector rails but leave the tractor in gear and pop into the next rail and then it was possible to select two gears at once .Once this happened if you realised you could get away with it and get it back in and get back to neutral but if you didn't realise and moved the tractor at all you get a full lock up and had to remove the selector levers from the side of the gearbox to get the levers back out .
Once they started that it was either split and repair or ,as we did if customer didn't want to spend the money, we put washers in behind the gear lever mechanism to make it impossible to select the low splitter gear.
Yours looks a very tidy well looked after example and doubt you will have this issue as it was only ever olde well, worm loader tractors .

In fact there is no limitation that 4 speed box could do 40k. In 5 speed box, additional 1 gear is lowest gear and 40k speed was done by changing bevel gear pair ratio. But that's how they sold it to many countries.
