I think our issues here are more birds and seem to have plenty of hawks. Im sure they sweep down in the early morning.

If you squeeze 'pulpy kidneys' in your hand they, as @Mc115reed says, just turn to mush.

Found one today, Looks like pumonia to me here’s a pic of lung looks black and shite kidney and liver look fine
