I had issue last year with lambs not really thriving after a couple months old. Was told was just one of those years. But I already see some this year not motoring on as they have been. Have couple dirty bums started but ones that aren't really thriving are all clean. Just wondering when is best time to get some tested for trace elements and try find out cause of it. Will be given first dose in few weeks as can't do it sooner with other work. Thanks

the key to keeping breeding stock successfully is correcting any problems when they arise, not in a "few" weeks time
If you live in the real world though, and have other things to do then they might have to wait for a few weeks time. IMO if they're breeding stock then I'd leave them to thrive or not, so I'm breeding from the ones that thrive on my ground.

Have two dogs that are my fathers. If I let the old one out it just runs straight back to yard. Then I'm not let use it myself if dogs out father has to come to so have to wait for dog and for him to do things in fields. Can't really go in evening and decide to dose a small batch before tea usually. Have to have it planned out and people rounded up to do it. I'd absolutely love to be able to do all my sheep jobs alone

Getting a trained dog to work for someone else is that not hard ? Or am I over thinking it. I haven't the patience to train one myself

Them lambs need a dose id say, did all the oldest lambs here during the week as some were getting dry of themselves, if you leave it for a few weeks youll have dead ones and lamb thrive will be set back for the rest of the season

I understand what ur saying. Realistically it'l be end of week before I can even start it even alone. I'm cleaning out hen house Monday Tuesday Wednesday. Once the mucks out I can start to do own jobs again

Have to agree that at times it's not possible to this case dose lambs soon as it's needed. Iv been at hen house since first thing and just finished now. Quick run round to feed sheep this morning and that's all I had time for never mind bringing couple hundred lambs in to dose

Things have to wait with me aswell @will6910 because of work, I don't think it means that we're doing the job wrong, but there's other pressing things to be doing.

At any other time of year I try best to do dosing and stuff soon as I can get a chance but just this year hens out at a time when lambs due first dose. Once hens house washed and cleaned it 14 months till next time so have to do it fast as can. After a few weeks it'l be back to normal routine
