Is it just me.
We were at lamma recently and spoke to maybe 5 different companies about an item we are looking at purchasing in the next couple of months. Not a small item either £10,000+
Not one company has got back in touch with a quote. Not one! What's the point in exhibiting at these shows if they aren't going to follow up enquiries. Anybody else found this?

I’m still waiting for call backs from Lamma.......and I last went in 2014:rolleyes:.....good job I’ve not been holding me breath ...
It’s not just shows, it’s hard to get call backs from companies that you call directly about a product.

The customer has to do all the chasing most of the time these days, but, it does make you appreciate the good ones who are on the ball and know their onions (y)

I'm still waiting for calls from the Highland Show last year.

Ive learnt that they are mostly all the same.

Unfortunately its a case of 'them who shout the loudest' get served.

I have given up to, I go to the the manufacturer, find out the exact spec I want, get the RRP then ring up a few local stockist and asked what discounts they offer off list.

It does help a bit, bonkers though when you think they are on commission probably

On a similar note . No-one has ever sold me a car - nobody - never -. I've ALWAYS had to do the running and buy it. In fact , the very last one I bought ,(main agent ) after I'd signed the purchase order and refused the persistent offer of finance , processed my debit card etc , all complete , the salesman actually said to me "You must have more effin' money than sense ! " Honest . I just couldn't be bothered to take it further , because I wouldn't mind betting that the sales manager was of like mind. When the girl rang me to say that it was due back for service , she wasn't in the least bothered when I said that neither I , nor the car would be soiling their forecourt ever again .

It's not just Lamma, we've contacted no end of people for quotes or genuine enquiries about a machine and none of them ever call back.
One machine I particularly wanted to buy, I told the guy I had cash waiting and would buy it over the phone unseen (I'd sent someone else to view it the week before). He said, I'll just get some paperwork together and call you straight back. Still waiting!!
With enquiries we get from Lamma or Cereals we tend to strike while the irons hot and make sure every one is contacted by the beginning of the following week.

Tried to find the specs of a JCB 4190, on their web site they want all my personal details ...WHY?... and because I would not tick the box for them to sell MY details to all and sundry, they will not send me a leaflet. So they are off the list formy next tractor.:scratchhead:

Spoke to one company at Beef Expo last May about kitting out a shed for cattle pens, not heard anything from him whereas a rival company was in the yard the next week! It's not just machinery firms either. Dad spoke to a company we had dealt with many years ago but not in the last 5, at the Beef Expo. "Oh yes we'll send our local rep out to see you". Never saw him, then at Nantwich Show in July dad went onto their stand and one of the reps recognised my dad "Did he call in?" No, "Oh I'll chase him up or better yet call in myself". Still not seen anyone. They won't be getting an order until someone does turn up even though they were cheaper. The 2 reps who do call have both had orders this month!

Maybe if you had accepted the offer of finance, like Mrs Y, you might have had your application refused. No credit history.

I've a funny feeling that many car dealers make more money from the finance (plus any extras they can scam you for) than selling the car. Its certainly true in those car warehouse types places selling 3 yo ex lease cars - they don't own the car, they get a fixed fee for selling it for the lease company. Their real profit is in the finance and daft extras they try to sell you - seat cover treatments to keep dirt off, that sort of thing. Like you when I bought my current car outright for cash, the manager made me sign a piece of paper that I understood that buying it outright was a worse deal than buying it on finance (absolutely true - CarShop Swindon, this means you!).
