Just about to leave then saw on their Twitter page that due to the strong winds last night they’ve shut the gates to visitors today. It’s gonna put a lot of people about, especially for the exhibitors. Feel bad for everyone stuck there. Traffic situation sounds awful at the moment!

I'm at the end of the a1m heading north.
pee'd right off, had a nightmare getting this far due to Dartford crossing closed because if wind, and general accidents and stupidity with traffic.
Now faced with going home without seeing anything.

I know the event safety officer for LAMMA, (I work as a ESO at a few festivals in the summer) this wouldn't be a decision they have taken lightly. Its going to cost them a small fortune to fix, the East of England arena have some burned to bare on the traffic management front, as that is there responsibility not the event organiser.

What I imagine happened is there was damage to the structures and they had hoped their marquee contractor could fix it to open the site but its probably become apparent that they can't.

It is !. People already saying stand prices will be to much, and instead there going to support East Midlands machinery show. Lamma will go the same way as Smithfield and cereals and out price itself.

Wonder how agritechnica manage ? Have you ever visited ?

These shows in the east are a joke imo and do our industry no justice, they are difficult to get to and attract no international visitors

About time the uk had a proper show that’s not like glorified village fete in a soggy eastern field or county show ground

NEC will probably mean cheaper stands. At East of England, they've got the site free plus the requirement for temporary structure plus additional infrastructure. NEC has that already.
Have you not read the other thread about Lamma moving to the NEC and the prices some manufacturers have been quoted for stands?
