OTOH, by far the most successful machinery show in Europe, Agrtechnica, is bi annual, held every other year with Eurotier, the livestock version.

I would say agritechnica is a complete different level with costs to go with that.

Maybe lamma has grown to big and should be downscaled a bit? (tbf, I haven't been to lamma for six years, so only guessing it's size from what I read on here)

Out in Austria at the the Case factory recently and the Case IH territory manager for the north of England and southern Scotland commented on how much he enjoyed working at the Highland show as do his collueges, it is very much the favourite uk show for them.

Haha yes I spoke to your boss playing football at berwick one night before Christmas. 30 of us went with G Marshal tractors first week in December. Fantastic time with a good group of guys and well looked after. Very interesting few days and St Valentine was very good. Priced mine from Paxtons but deal wasn’t as attractive this time, been delighted with the 165 cvx this far and the service has been faultless from Marshals, touching a large piece of wood

Absolutely agree. Lamma can’t be compared to agritechnica, haven’t been to to sima so can’t comment on that one. When we went to Hannover we had 3 days walking round and still didn’t see it all. Highland show or the welsh are probably more worthwhile visiting.

Id stick me neck out & say its poss the best of its type in the country.
& iam no scottish neither.
Must have improved a lot since I was last there, would be 2012. £8 to park in a puddle and £20+ to get in and you would be round all the machinery in under 3 hours. Takes pretty much all of the two days to get round lamma

As I said in my earlier post you will never keep everyone happy but as a show I feel the Cheif executive, the Chairman and his Directors generally get it rite and are always striving to keep the show attractive to all walks of society. It couldn’t possibly survive being a machinery and livestock show.

The trouble with the latest LAMMA is that dealerships started having stands, making an already big show too big to see properly in one day. In the days of the Royal Show and Smithfield just the manufacturers went, but they were all there. If we were looking to buy something such as a subsoiler, we could look at all the different designs and decide the best one for our price range.
We are 15 mins from the NEC so for us the next move would be good.

From what I’m hearing now, lamma at the NEC could be a problem, I’ve just ordered a piece of kit from a dealer up north who will remain nameless and he said his company won’t be going to the NEC, decision is already made, also he knows a company that sell lots of drills have also said they will not be going, both are big firms. Add to what other people have said about Claas and CHN and already there are some big players missing.

"a dealer from up north says he's not going" ............... that's it you heard it here first, the show is doomed

These shows are not aimed at dealers surely they are for manufacturers ?

Yes. Hopefully the 'organ grinders' [manufacturers, importers and primary businesses] will have the stands even if some dealership 'monkeys' will be hanging around ready to jump.

There are plenty of regional shows manned by dealers as it is. Too many local ones, in my opinion.
