Hi there. We’ve about 15 acres of land that needs re draining and hundreds of 6-8inch diameter trees need removing so we can reclaim this area and get it back into full production.
Used to be good productive peat land until spuds were grown on it . And large environmental payments have seen the area become a wilderness. Anybody got any ideas for best way of tree removal??

When out in NZ we saw them doing similar with bulldozers that had large teeth at the bottom of the blade which ripped the trees roots out. These trees have grown from nothing in 15 years. Many thanks

A tree shear will leave the roots behind, the only real option is a 360 - push over and dig them out with an earth bucket and a good set of teeth.

Not sure of your location but if your in Britain make sure you don’t fall foul of the Environment Agency / NRW

manitou with short 18 inch pallet forks will dig them out fine

Looks like the SRC that gets blasted into the power stations?

I'd get a chipper on hire and some big trailers ready.

If it is a low-lying wet spot, I'd be tempted to put a fishing pond in...

Looks like a super wind break to me! Why remove it? Try for wild-life payments rather than 'farming' it. Do you desparately need 15 acres for the sake of an endless circle of input versus very little profit, or even several years of loss which is more than likely. To be honest there are better ways to make some money here.....other than using the plough.

Forestry Mulcher on a machine will sort the top growth out. What's best for the ground. Could you still graze it. Goats would sort the lower branches out. [emoji38]
